paint colour ideas

I want to paint the walls in this room to brighten it up. I would love to paint the oak BUT this is my grandpas home and he did all of the oak cabinets himself when they lived here so I also want to leave them original. Would prefer to just paint the walls a white colour. Suggestions for paint colours? I typically buy Benjamin Moore. Thanks!

What I see for your trim, is beautiful, and your grandfather did a very nice job. I am very much hoping you leave it all the oak color. Try SW alabaster on the walls, it is a bit on the warm side, and is beautiful with your oak.

Are you open to something other than white/off-white? With your carpet and tile, white is going to just look blah. What about a soft, muted green?
