What are you doing Monday? 112524

We are getting ready for Thanksgiving. We do not need to go anywhere and just stay home cook our own meal. That is my son and me and first time in 36 years. I have no menu yet. But we are cooking.

It has been cooler here with the use of the word frost not too far away. They are talking first freeze possibly this weekend. I am almost ready. I still have to put the main cover over the houses.

Then I want to start some seeds. Sweet peas for fun Adenium for trade or sale. I spent a great deal of time this fall putting plant groups together and pulling out the spares. So ......... my great plan is a small spring sale You are all invited. No hosta just cacti and gingers.

So not too much happening here. I am off to the meat market to get game hens.

Happy Thanksgivings to everyone.

P.s. Many of you may be wondering about the bathroom renovation (yeah, remember that?) Everything is done now so I will post pics soon.

Still cleaning up the garden area but probably won't finish it before the sow flies, have to wait till spring I guess. I waited too long to put up fencing so the deer don't eat up my bushes and my attempt at topiary. I've been growing this cross for probably twenty years and have to fence it in in the winter so the deer don't eat it...oops! waited too long, now it will take at least 4-5 years to recover.

I am hoping to start some hosta seeds again myself if I can find room to set up in my 'work' room. Have some plantaginea seeds and attempted to cross Sheila Macqueen with Lakeside Paisley Print.

Paula - Mama told me to eat whatever was on my plate but if that dish is on my plate, Mama isn't here to make me. :)

The very last of my hosta for this year - June

Paula..lol..is that dish a flower?..a turtle?..someone tried to make it fancy but I'd pass on it..

debra..I didn't know about your foot surgery..I'm glad for you that it's over..good timing to recover during cold weather..looking forward to your new bathroom photos..

old_dirt..I thought ivy was deer resistant?..😮

most of my Junes look like yours..this trio by the back sidewalk still has some green..but we have low temperatures coming that will trash it..

Mon and Tues I planted daffodils..after they bloomed last spring a friend dug up quite a few they didn't want and gave them to me..I intended to plant them months ago..

they'll be on view from my kitchen window..I laid branches with a few stones on top to deter squirrels..

If you do not like my first mold, then try this one. There is always room for Jello.

Paula, it’s so much more relaxing to be able to stay home on Thanksgiving. Nice that you have your son there, too. The kid’s table might get a kick out of the SpaghettiOs mold with the uncooked hot dogs. But that second one you posted would be the way to make me leave quickly. Yuk!

Debra, sorry to hear you’re laid up from foot surgery. I hope it’s all healing as expected and not causing you too much pain. And yes, I’m looking forward to pics of your bathroom renovation.

Old_dirt, I was reading and seeing the first picture and thought, that still looks good. Then I scrolled down. ☹ Yikes! They did a number on it. After all those years of care you put into it. May your ivy grow quickly.

Ann, nice that you can enjoy your Junes for so long. Mine are under snow.

I remember the days of having to get dressed up for pictures, driving for hours, carting food to different houses on both Thanksgiving and Christmas. Going from DH’s parents to mine, or vise versa. And whoever we went to second felt slighted because we’d eaten at the first place. Even though we did eat two meals to make everyone happy! I miss the people, but not the hassle of it all.

Now it’s just me and DH, and we always make a big feast just for us. We both like cooking and having lots of leftovers. Sometimes we cook with other family members over the phone or on Facetime. Over the years we’ve simplified things. It’s nice to be able to stay home, wear comfy clothes, and have a quiet day with good food.

    Happy Thanksgiving everyone!
