sink shape for modern bathroom

For a modern bathroom, with a rectangular mirror above the vanity, does a rectangular sink look best or does the sink shape not matter?

(I added 4 additional posts with photos below. Not sure if I am doing this correctly. Hopefully previous commenters will see.)

This is the vanity. A few photos are here to try to capture the color (Bertch 27" vanity in loft), the medicine cabinet, where the medicine cabinet and vanity fall on the wall (a lot squeezed into a small space both left to right and floor to ceiling). Also one to show next to the knee wall. (The pieces of quartz have been removed because the contractor chipped them. Also the molding looked awful and that has been removed.)

A rectangle will look best, as long as you show your vanity selection and it suits a rectangle and, the overall vibe in the bath. There are many definitions of "modern" and your own personal definition may be different than anyone here.

Many people select an oval under mounted sink to complement the lines of the toilet and tub. Also an oval cutout provides more countertop space if your vanity is small.

I've had both, and I find the oval easier to clean. Not a big deal but something I would consider if I had to replace a sink.

It's a TRANSITIONAL bath. I'd get the smallest American standard oval.....because ALL the smaller rectangles and squares? Good luck rinsing these with shaving hair and toothpaste. You are warned: )

Maureen: the photos you attached are gorgeous! Definitely not what my bathroom looks like (I wish!) and comparing those to my bathroom, and Jan's comment below, my bathroom isn't modern. I chose modern faucet but I guess the rest isn't modern.
