The bathroom renovation is finally done!

We live in a 1935 Tudor with very long narrow main bathroom. We’ve been here since 1985. We have done lots of things to the house over the years, but never thought there would be much we could do for the bathroom because of the huge cast iron tub. This started out as just getting a new floor because I hated the olive green floor. When discussing the floor with our contractor, we were pleasantly surprised to hear that the tub could come out! After that we went all in. Here are before and after pictures.

Here are the pics of the 1934 Kohler cast iron tub as it came out. Took three guys to take each piece. About 500 pounds they estimated in all.

The step over was 17 inches

Debra you must be so happy to have your washroom finally done. It is night and day from the before pics. Yes I agree so light and bright! Nice touches withe the heated towel rack and rain head. I bet you are spending lots of time enjoying your upgraded space!

it looks nice debra!..is that a "comfort height" toilet? lol..that's one of my favorite upgrades in our bathrooms..

the older standard height is miserable to me now..😜

Looks very nice. I know what you mean about " spent more than we expected", we had ours done several years ago and scrimped on materials and now needs redoing or at least major touch ups.

Debra - your new bath looks great! The change from step over bath to walk in shower & the higher toilet are really smart & surely you’ve noticed the difference in easy function. The heated towel rack is a genius touch!

    Fabulous!!!

Such spaces are hard to decorate, glad you had it over with. Looks fresh and functional! Heated towels are must in our climate. I too splurged on luxury heat in the bathroom, my fav room in the house lol. Love your tile colors!

Very nice updates! It looks much lighter and brighter. The sink looks worth the wait. And the shower cut outs are something I wish I had. So convenient.

“We spent more than we expected,”

Isn’t that always what happens with any renovation? You did a great job on improving a tight space. Once it’s finished, you forget all the trouble you went through.

KW, the art is actually penguins in bathtubs and bubbles…. Lol We wanted something whimsical.

Debra -🤣 Penguins! I was looking at the image of the art reflected in the mirror & I ’saw’ cats. I think you have cats or are a cat favoring person so I made myself see cats! Love the penquin art - especially the ones in the bubbles - so cute!

KW, I do have cats and plenty of cat art so we chose something else.

Great job, Debra! My wife and I know all too well what it feels like to get a reno finally done. For example, last night was the first night since early June we've been able to use the primary bedroom again. It involved taking down a valance, removing popcorn off the ceiling (thank goodness it was never painted), remove a ceiling fan, put in a coffered ceiling, lay a parquet floor, do wainscoting around the room, paint, trim and replace doors and bi-folds. The trim is where the delay was. We used an oil-based stain in multiple coats and it took FOREVER to cure. But we're there at long last and we're tickled with the end result!

    Beautiful ceiling @Pieter zone 7/8 B.C.

Pieter you two did a great job! I also love the wainscoting and coffered ceiling. We couldn’t have the coffered ceilings because we have cove ceilings, a challenge when wanting one wall color and a different ceiling color.
I also like the wood trim up around the ceiling. I could add something like that to achieve two colors……🤔🤔
