Colette vs. Bathsheba

What are your thoughts on Colette vs. Bathsheba? Fragrance? Health no-spray? Rebloom?

These both have a similar habit and bloom form correct? Have any of you grown both and can compare the two? Which could you not be without?

Thank you! My local nursery had Colette on order last year and it never came in. They have 10 on order for this year. So I'm hoping 2025 will be the year I can snag one!

I have Bathsheba on order bare-root from DA. Do I really need Bathsheba and Colette?

I have just a few years growing both so am not to the point of drawing firm conclusions. My Bathsheba is a grafted plant from DA roses but was not planted in the best spot. It has taken its time to produce pretty blooms. Most have been underwhelming and somewhat sparse. It is at the top of the arbor and I think is getting prettier every year so my guess is that this spring it'll be good. I know some people have gorgeous plants of it. It does seem fairly healthy in terms of bs. It has some good branching that should produce lots of blooms.

Colette is about the same age here...several years old, and I think mine's own root. It has more blooms than my Bathsheba and so far I like the color better. I love the health of it.

Sunny, I have baby Colette only, planted last Spring. Can confirm so far that it's good growing rose with absolutely no black spots!

Bathsheba seems to have more yellow tones in it:

I'm glad to have both. I think you'd like both, Sunny....they are quite different.

Oh gosh I wouldn’t be without either . They are definitely on my top ten list and if I had to start a new garden they’d be among the first I order !

My Bathsheba’s can bloom almost the whole season . In fact if I went out now I’m sure I’d find blooms even now tucked in . It’s very healthy and a pleasure to work with . Not too thorny , vigorous, and just a wonderful rose ! Color varies between a honey color and warm gold and sometimes a pinkish cast as well .

Colette I adore the color and form of the blooms . Mine does takes break in the heat but blooms well otherwise. My only complaint is it’s so thorny . Not wonderful for an arch although i used it on mine in Tennessee. Here it’s on my wall and I can see my sons nerf football buried in it and no way of getting it back lol

Both are lovely roses, but they are quite different. Both need full sun to do well. If you have great location for both, I suggest give both a try.
