What's up Wednesday 121124

last year

I have been a party animal, which I am not. I am attempting to restart the retiree's luncheon once a month. And we had a pretty good turnout. I am pleased.

Not too much is happening right now. It is 5am and 66 degrees. Rain on the way. I am waiting for after the holidays to start my seeds. The first year I realized I had hosta people here were talking about seed starting. I had no idea what they were talking about. I did have these green pods where the flowers were so here goes. I was game. So, I planted them. Pod and all. Nothing came up but it was for fun. My seeds now came mainly from Olive Bailey Langston, so I believe they will be mostly green just like the Spider seed experiment.

They also can be used as 'Derders'. Put it up to your mouth and say der der der dedder derderder

For the San Fernando Valley group does anyone remember this? I did.

What does an 8-year-old boy want for Christmas?

I will keep the bonking in mind…..lol

Not too much going on here….. my toe is healed from the surgery but not well yet…..it’s swollen and I’m having trouble putting anything on it except slippers, tho even those hurt. Finally managed to get the Christmas decorations up with a bit of help.

I don’t think I mentioned that we had to let our Jingle baby cross over the rainbow bridge. He was 18+. He had hythy

    Correction and continue——
He had hyperthyroidism and needed medicine to keep eating. So he needed to eat frequently and my life the last two and a half years had been devoted to o caring for him, even missing family visits to NYC because of his care.
He was losing weight the past month and fell to 4.7 pounds. We were taking him in to the vet for bloodwork, but before that appointment he had caught a cold and the day we took him he was really struggling to breathe. We knew it was time. It was peaceful to hold him as he left us. I have always said “letting our animal companions go when necessary is the last loving thing we can do for them.”

What I didn’t anticipate is how quiet everything is for me now…..even though I have 3 other cats, no one has stepped in to become my constant companion. I miss him.

On another note, the big freeze is arriving tonight and we have flurries today….. sign

I am so sorry about Jingle crossing over. I understand how close our kids get to us. She was a beautiful tuxedo.

Oh Debra, so sorry. I agree with your sentiment thats it’s the final act of love and care.

debra..I'm sorry about Jingle..he had a long life thanks to your loving care..💕

I planted more of my free daffodils but not all of them..I'll plant more when it warms up again..

my last standing hosta..Autumn Frost in a pot in the garage..yellowing but standing..my other pots have declined more..

I was always bragging about June..didn't even notice Autumn Frost until I moved the pot..

Debra, I’m so sorry you had to let go of your Jingle. That’s a good way to think of it, is that it’s the last loving thing we do for them. We don’t want them to suffer, but it’s the hardest thing about having them in our lives is that they leave us too soon. Eighteen is a good age for a cat, and Jingle was lucky to have been part of your family.

Paula, what happened to ilovetogrow for your name?

I remember May Company very well! I got my ears pierced there along with my first set of earrings. And I once saw the actress who played Jane Hathaway in The Beverly Hillbillies shopping in the North Hollywood store.

I had major internet problems and antenna problems all day long. I thought the aliens had landed. But just over my house.

I like ixoxo. Sounds like aliens.

Debra, hugs, run free, Jingle. The sense of loss hard to rationalize for me.

Toes are so important for proper walking it does not seem a problem until one has a problem. Been there done that when dropped cabinet on my foot couple of years back.

It is cold here so just walk with dogs for me outside. Did about 100 labels for hostas, went to hosta holiday party which was fun. Dreaming to make it to National and def for Winter scientific in Feb. Growing too many seedlings, I wanted to see which ones produce best and most of streakers so hoarded all my seeds and ending up with a lot more I thought I would. They look good though.
