Matching light fixtures

Do ceiling light fixtures, like all hallway lights need to be from the same family? I have an upstairs hall, laundry room, foyer/entry, and downstairs hall light fixtures from the 80’s that it’s time to retire. Should they all be similar in style and color? Or should they match what is in the nearby areas? Like a stairway wall sconce is already new, brushed gold with a white fabric shade, could I then do a ceiling light at the bottom of stairs at front door that is an antique bronze Tiffany style? Not that that’s what I want, but to show the contrast between the two. Here are three pics. First is the stairway light fixtures, 2nd is the proximity of the two fixtures and thirds is current paint. I was considering something a little bit of a statement piece at the door and then a similar piece in laundry room and downstairs hall by back door. But now not sure that it does with the other light in the family room. Don’t have a pic so will get that when I get home this evening. Plus I have to deal with the slanted ceiling. Here are two I am considering.

As you can see my style is pretty traditional and I love antiques. That fixture above is also available in a pretty green. Pictures aren’t working right now.

you say the stairway sconce is new, so I assume you will be keeping it?

I personally would change that light to a more ornate sconce in the amber glass style shown (it would become a piece of art in the gallery photo display)

Do you need that much light at the door (your closet door is white, so any light will bounce off it) Your Amber light shown would be attractive there.

As for the ceiling fan/light kit. I never use the light on a fan kit, if you need a fan AND a light, there are many combo fixtures that look better.

If you are serious about antiques, choose a dramatic light fixture, it would be the focal point in the room.

You are struggling with enough light in the room as it is, picking an amber globe with an amber light bulb.....sorry but these are not going to give you light, you will have less than you do now. and it will be yellow light. The sconce light is entirely out of place to the pictures Is there a chandelier over the dining table? If you are going to dive in make sure it actually helps give you light. You also have 3 different light temps going on cool white, white and warm. all needs to be addressed. Are you keeping the ceiling fan? Id run track in white possibly, to blend, add some directional heads for the wall collage and change the sconce to blend in.

IMO the only fixture I like is the shaded sconce on your staircase. The traditional design weems to complement the architecture of your space.

I would advise you consider selecting fixtures from Visual Comfort.

RL Relocation. The current lighting isn’t an issue. I have other lamps in there now, I just had to sort through some older pics to find the stair sconce.

On the ceiling fan in that room, I’ll show some pics later but no the fan is not really used and needs to be changed anyways.

I wasn’t trying to address all the lighting issues but was most concerned with the question of - do all ceiling and wall fixtures in the room have to be from the same kind of family. Pics really were just to show proximity and not current colors and layout and lighting in the room.
