I wouldn't go bigger than the current canvas. Shape is hard to say without seeing the entire room - if all the furniture and artwork is square-ish, I'd opt for oval; If you have lots of curves, go for rectangle.

Why a mirror at all I much prfer the canvas but much less on the console

Turn the sofa to face towards the windows and fireplace instead of that wall. Then you can actually look at the windows instead of their reflection.

You could try it, but it might be too spindly. I think you should look at FB market place or offer up and see if you can get something larger ( if you cant afford new). And sell the one you have. the height of the ceiling and the size of the great room are asking for more. I know you know bc you are trying to add plants etc to fill the space.

also maybe one of those large canvas could go next to the window?

The other option would be to purchase a large enough mirrror to lean it against the wall and place the console table in front of it.
