deciding on building a small pool in Scottsdale

Hello! My husband and I recently moved to Scottsdale, AZ and we are deciding if we should construct a small pool. We do not want it to take up too much yard and really want a “spool”; something to cool off in during summertime but the primary use will be in the cooler months as a hot tub. My question is, will the water temperature be so hot in the summer that it won’t even be worth it to use? Does anyone have any experience with chillers to cool down the water temperature and is it worth the expense? Thanks for any responses!

hey- welcome to arizona. you will not need a water chiller and the water will not be too hot. In the winter you can use it as a cold plunge as well.

We had a hot tub that we just turned the heater off in the summer for our grand kids to play in not a big deal . But if the grand kids were not around it was nice and relaxing at night before bed in the summer . Plunge pool is probably an idea but I do not think they heat up enough to be ahot tub

We have a swim spa - 14’ long and 3/4 is the swim side (with jets you can swim in place or just use as a plunge pool) and 1/4 is hot tub. The cover keeps the temp stable throughout the year. Ours is Michael Phelps brand from Master Spas. We have had it 5 years and love it. Minimal upkeep too which is nice. If you can design it into hardscaping/landscaping then it looks less above ground hot tubby. Here is an image with the cover closed.

Our 6’5” son regularly swims in the swim side. I’m only comfortable doing the backstroke as I’ve never mastered the right breathing technique with the strong jets. But the hot tub side gets regular use and the plunge pool in the summer is nice.
