Beverly’s suggestions make it all come together, especially that wall color. I wonder what color fixtures she would suggest? Maybe something in the silver family? It has the potential to look great!

Perhaps you want to reconsider the back lit mirror? I agree that a large mirror will help as will the distraction of your faucet and potentially hanging a hand towel on the wall just to the right of the electrical outlet.

Hi Beverly, yes it’s just for atmosphere. My plan is to have two pendants, one on each side of the mirror. The mirror is the one I posted above, not the one in this picture.

I'm not as bothered by this as others are. No, the tile doesn't match the counter but I don't find them offensive together or a terrible mismatch. (Maybe my monitor is more forgiving?) If you cannot return the mirror, just hang it without attaching the electrical.

I think your black lights will compliment the dark floor tile.

Beverly, thank you for your help!!! 9 foot ceiling. The mirror is 36”L 24”W. Here are the pendants. The glass is 3.5 inches diameter. The faucet is chrome.

A lighted mirror might bring out the lighter tones in the wall tiles.

Gold hardware will bring out the 'pink' in the tile.

I added to the wall height but I'm not sure this is even tall enough.

If the tiles are 8" then I have to add two more feet onto this image.

These pendant bodies are 16" tall which might be too much for over a 36 inch vanity.

Perhaps a more minimal pendants would be better

Thank you so much!! These are the tiles, I did not image the entire wall in the pic but we do have 9 foot ceilings. This is the look I was going for. My eye keeps going to the counter top not matching. :(. Should I live with it? Change the counter top?

Look for a stone or a quartz that has both a color that goes with the wall tile and a color that goes with the floor to tie everything together. And, absolutely, if that’s more than a powder room, a larger sink would be much easier to use.

You can get beautiful remnants cheaply.

Pink and green are opposite on the color wheel, and each intensify the other. Change out the green beige counter to something more pinky beige, like the walls. Or a pinky cream color. Take several tiles with you to a local fabricator's scrap pile, and see what you see.

You could investigate changing the color of the tile with an acid wash. I've never done it before myself but there are products available for doing that on the internet.

Use your head here. Any acid strong enough to eat away a fired ceramic glaze removes the protection of that glaze, making it porous and stainable. Sure it "changes the color", because it's now the non protected bisque underneath that grabs and holds all the stains in the world.

Is this a powder room? you may have said this and I missed it — if it is, I wouldn’t worry about the small sink and would just get everything installed and then live with it for a bit - I would want to soften the dark tile with a sisal/seagrass mat

Instead of paint, chose wallpaper with at least both of the tones of tile and counter. This paper has both, plus black and brown. It will help coordinate the differences. Add an accent color into the mix.

This is a full bath. If things couldn’t get worse, there is a crack in the quartzite. This was the second piece that they cut, the first one they broke before install.

Here are small baths that began iwith dark vanities.

Maybe it’s your “lucky break,” radtraveler—you might well be able to have this piece removed without charge (for the stone or labor). The first of the photos Beverly posted just above could guide you well. A plain counter (quartz that hints at the wall tile color) and a black framed mirror could tie everything together nicely. And I like the chrome faucet (and cabinet hardware) for sparkle.

Try changing the grout color - it looks like there is room to add more without needing to chip out the existing- which matches green-gray of countertop and which is also not significantly darker than the tile color, and if you then paint walls a shade identical to that grout color, it will tone down the pinkness of the tiles. See below for an approximation

If there is a crack in the countertop - it should be replaced. If this is the second one that has cracked, I would use that as your excuse as to why you want to go with something else. You could then change the countertop to something that work with the tiles + have a larger sink installed (what are the dimensions of that sink??)

I would just tell them that you do not want to take another chance with that countertop material (is it a darker Taj or something else? My understanding is that Taj is very durable).

Are your floors charcoal slate tile?

I’m waiting to hear back from the stone place,. I think this is my second chance to turn this all around. I’m on the hunt for different pendants, something more delicate and probably chrome for sparkle. Yes this is Taj. It looked grayish when I picked it out. Once installed it pulled a lot of green. The sink was supposed to be 11x16. The opening is 10x15, when I feel the under mount there is a lot of over hang (hard to explain) but I think that’s why the sink looks small. What size sink does everyone suggest?

I would replace the counter top with a black stone, like Jet Mist granite. Then the color of the tiles won't be highlighted.

Simple white counter top would look very nice…black or gold fixtures will work..or a mix of both.

I don’t find the contrast that offensive, but it could just be my monitor. If you put something on the counter, so that your eye doesn’t see the actual juxtaposition between the countertop and the tile, it may bother you less. I find once we fixate on something, visually, it becomes an obsession.

I realize your countertop is small, but a simple tray or something with a couple of objects on it could break up the juxtaposition of the tile and the counter. However, if the counter top is cracked… That’s a whole other ball game.

The tile does cover the entire wall, and the grout color is Pearl. I am really hoping that they will replace the countertop because of the crack….i think I’m leaning towards a white countertop.

Listen to this!!! So what I thought was a fissure that cracked through in the quartzite, is really an actual broken piece put together!!! They flipping used the same quartzite that they broke originally after telling us they had enough of the remnant to cut another counter.

Well I guess that worked out in my favor!! But what a deceitful thing to do! This piece of quartzite was $1,100.

You coukd tell it was two pieces because they flow in different directions and are not at all fluid.

Their lack of truthfulness certainly gives you negotiating leverage for whatever you do next. And I agree with not a white counter…unless there’s a lot of white already in the bathroom (toilet? tub?). If you share a photo of the rest, you can get better informed opinions.

White would look great. I’d stay with the chrome, including for the shower rod and curtain hooks, and I’d look for a shower curtain that incorporates the floor and wall tile colors together—then that wall tile that once seemed off will look perfect.

Crate & Barrel has a very nice extra long shower curtain with texture.

So I am gong to be the devil’s advocate on the sink size. A smaller sink gives you more counter space, especially since this is a main bathroom. How big is the sink?

Its going to work out! So I think my sink is bigger at 19x15. But really not sure if the difference is that big a deal. Can you set a faucet over it and put some stuff on the counter like hairbrush, toothbrush, etc. and see how it feels?

The sink size is perfectly in proportion to the size of the vanity and top. I'd leave that be.

Repaired Taj is not a big deal. Taj cracks every time you look at it. Even the slabs at the wholesaler have repaired cracks from the quarry. Every Taj counter in America has repaired fissures/cracks, from minor to major. Because, that's Taj.. The adhesive bond is stronger than the rest of the stone's bond to each other. It will never crack there again. Somewhere else, maybe. If you don't want fissures or repairs, then Taj is not the counter for you. It is guaranteed to have all of that.

Minardi, that’s interesting. I expected imperfections but not cracks. I do understand that people might think that it adds character but the graining going in different directions makes it look like a patch job, it’s not for me.
