The frost is pretty but is without a strong focal point, so for me the tree.

Love the color of the icy blue frost but the composition of the tree in fog gets my vote.

Both are very nice but the tree gets my vote, too. (LOL, Annie, and that Jack Frost blue’s are one of ”my colors.”😉)

While the snowflakes are interesting, the tree photo has better composition.

The snowflakes probably took lots of talent to catch on film but nasty me thinks it looks too much like a bolt of fabric.

Actually Rho, the snowflakes aren't snowflakes at all but Jack Frost on my glass railing on my deck. The only tough part was getting into position so behind the glass and the frost was the blue sky without too much reflection of me on the deck. The depth comes from the fact that the frost formed on both sides of the glass.

The tree.

I'm going with the ice. The tree is very lovely and atmospheric but a bit of a cliche imo. The ice is more abstract and imaginative.

floral and Lars, I have the same feeling...I've seen photos like the tree a lot, but not the frost....though the concern with the frost is as lisaam mentioned, lack of a focal point...it's more of a background shot.

I voted for the tree. Alberta gets very few gloomy, dark days, but we get bright blue skies year round, even in the winter. The blue reminds me of my car windshield when I park outside for too long in the winter, in the city.

Both are great pictures, though. 🥶

I found the frost more original. The tree practically shouts, "I'm Inspirational."

Thank you one and all for participating. Your inputs have been most helpful. I've decided on the tree, but was still not quite there with it. I've since changed it to sepia tones and now am much happier. I've submitted it as it has to be in before midnight tonight.

Exactly the opposite where I am. Maybe that influenced my choice. Trees in mist are an everyday sight in winter. Ice crystals much rarer.
