GE Monogram Advantium replacement - where do I start?

Our Advantium of 10 years just stopped working after a power outage. The display was flashing for a week or so before that - although it was working fine.....but after the power outage - now it just says "turn dial" on the display and nothing works.....time for a new one.

We have not used the oven portion of the Advatium that much so want to replace it with a microwave....Should I just go shopping for a new microwave with the manual of my old Advantium so the sale guys can help me figure out what fits exactly.

While shopping for an appliance should I just buy something smaller than the current cavity and buy a "kit" to fill the rest....Wonder if GE's new Advantium fits the old cavity....

As you can tell by now my fear is having a awkward space in the current cavity if the fit is not right!!! We plan to first call an electrician to see if its just a fuse in the back of the Advantium that can he can just reset or something.....fingers crossed

No. What is the brand and model number of your Advantium oven? Is it Monogram ZSC1001KSS?

Thank you so much @wdccruise - You make our search for a replacement so easy!!!

Since I did not use the oven feature that much - I was thinking of going with just a microwave!! - the one you listed (Cafe CWB713P2VS1).....but did not realize that even the microwaves have gone up in price too. - $2K for a built in microwave?!?!? holly molly!!!

Do I have a 240V or a 120V behind my current Advantium Monogram ZSC22001NSS 02? Sorry if this is a dumb question - wondering if I need a new electric work to be done too.

Wonder if I can salvage or make this Advantium work with a quick call to an electrician - if that route is even worth it - since it displays a "TURN DIAL" sign on it - so its not completely DEAD!!

Now I have to go to the local store and order one - meanwhile my over the counter microwave from 32 years ago is till working!!! Love those old appliances built to last!!! A god send just like your expertise @wdccruise!!

GE Appliances does not make a microwave-only built-in oven. The Cafe CWB713P2VS1 is microwave + convection oven. The ZSC22001NSS that you own is a 240 volt appliance so you would need to add a 120-volt circuit or modify the 240-volt circuit you have to support the Cafe CWB713P2VS1.

The microwave-only Frigidaire Gallery GMBD3068AF ($1250) might fit though you'd have to widen the cutout from 25-1/4" to 28" to accommodate it and carefully check the specs to make sure it wouldn't touch the oven installed below.

Given the prices of these appliances, I'd consider trying to get your old oven repaired. Even if you had to spend $500 for the repair you'd still save $hundreds and avoid the hassle of having to remove the old oven and install a new one.

Thanks for the detailed advice!!

Like you said we will first get a repair guy to come take a look and see if it is an easy fix!

If we do have to buy a replacement then will stick with the Cafe. Reason being:

We cannot accommodate a bigger cut out because, the "vertical " cabinet that houses the single oven and the advantium is kinda flush with the refrigerator on one side and jets out some from the countertop on the other side and has an inch wood border as a separation - So a there is no space to expand for a bigger cutout. Love the look of the kitchen right now so Cafe it will be.

We can only accommodate something smaller but will need a "kit" to cover any gaps etc. - and in the end not sure if the fit will be a good one, let alone finding one that exists!!

Since we are going with a 2k-3k range anyway and both are ovens too that work as a microwave too - will consider and decide on one of the two options you mentioned originally:
- Cafe CSB923P2VS1 ($2800): Direct replacement for ZSC2201NSS; fits in existing cutout; 240 volts
- Cafe CWB713P2VS1 ($1976): Microwave+Convection; fits in existing cutout; requires 120 volt electrical circuit
