Need help with exterior update

I’m getting new siding and windows in the spring. The roof will stay the brown tones that it is. The brick is only on the front of the house. Looking for siding color suggestions , as well as shutter, doors, and brick colors. I’m considering lime washing the brick to a whiteish color, doing siding in some shade of green, and then dark brown shutters and doors. But I don’t want to make an expensive mistake so I’d love suggestions. Thanks! I’m in upstate NY if that makes a difference to what you’d suggest.

Agree with Pat. When you remove the shutters on first floor (please do) You may need to have brick cleaned as dirt can accumulate under the shutters.

I would remove the shutters and paint the whole house, inclusing the garage door

There are two major issues with the house

    1. that gable over the garage is all wrong
    2. that bow window was not an improvement on the house when it was installed.

A shed roof over the garage would have allow you to create a canopy over the front door that is really needed.

Here's your home with the suggestions I have listed.

Thank you for your replies! The siding is being replaced bacause it's aluminum siding that's been on the house since 1963, and has a lot of hail damage. We painted it once but it's time for it to go now. This is an older picture because we are currently snow covered. The landscaping has been updated, and we have a new garage door. It 's currently white but paintable. A new front door has already been ordered as well. I also hate the shutters and your comments reinforce my thought to just get rid of them. I would do a wider window trim with some type of crown molding on top; however my new windows will be white so I'm assuming all my trim should also be white? I love the color in the pic you posted Patricia, but that brick has a lot of brown in it and mine is much more red. Do you think this color siding would look good with my red bricks? This is the closest my siding company has to the color in your pic-see photo below. I understand about not doing anything to the brick, I just feel the red limits me. So if I do a greenish siding, leave the bricks as is, remove shutters, and have white trim around windows-what color do I do front door and garage door? Thank you all for your help!

I like the warm green in your pic better than Patricia's sage green. Get a sample of your paint and paint the garage door or the back or just a big board. We painted our samples on the back of our garage, where no one could see them. It was very helpful.

Frankly, I think anything has to look better than the current dingy beige.

I would consider this fiberboard siding from GAF

Comes in three different styles. Doesn't have to be wavy.
