baseboard color?

Trying to decide.
New build contemporary house. SW Divine White / SW Touch of Sand. I was thinking of having the bb the same color as the wall or I can pick another similar tone for bb & door frames.

Baseboards are trim and should be painted the same color as the rest of the trim in your house.

To clarify…. It’s not a finished house. We are building and are coming up on trim. Thought the picture would show that.,

Are you planning on staining the trim, or painting it all. Either way, all trim throughout the house should be the same. Some are painting the color of the walls, and it looks a bit boring to me, but, ok, if thats what you like, however, for that to be successful, you need to paint all the walls in the house the same color, so you get matching trim in all rooms. Baseboards, which you asked about, are trim, and should be painted the same as door casings, and other trim.

In our previous house we painted the baseboard the wall color and loved it! In a contemporary home it would look great IMHO.

What color are the windows? Will they be framed with trim?

The window frames and exterior doors are black. There is no trim . We are in the process of finishing our build. The windows will only have a sill / shelf. No window frames.

Well, since you have now said, there is no other trim, I guess, you can do the baseboards anyway you want to do them, including same color as your paint.

You may not have window trim, but you certainly have interior doors and door trim. What are you thinking about doing with the window sills?

I am also curious about your paint color choices.

My favorite colors are purple and wine red. I love taupe and have no issues with pink and purple undertoned neutrals, but they are not as flexible as many other neutrals.

In my foyer with purple. red and green slate and pink brick I used Frosted Toffee (BM). For most homes it is way too pink.

Here is how it compares to Touch of Sand. I included Devine White , Natural Linen and Natural Tan in the comparisons

If you look at the CIE_L*CH(ab) row the three numbers represent the Luminance or how light a color is, the next number is Chroma - how colorful or gray the color is and the last number is hue.

Natural Tan with a hue of 87.8 is considered a really neutral beige with a slight green undertone.

Natural Linen is very similar, but is sometimes described as having a slight pink undertone.

Frosted Toffee with a hue of 73.8 is described as a rosy beige with lilac undertones

If you are like me and love the lilac grays and pink and purple undertoned taupes and dislike anything with a yellow beige or green beige or geige tone it may be the perfect color.

If you are looking for neutral the Natural Tan/Natural Linen colors may be better than Touch of Sand.

When I helped my sister pick colors we chose SW Natural Linen, but went with Pure White as the white for doors and trim because Devine White picked up too much pink. (Whites can sometimes show stonger undertones than their darker counterparts in the same hue).
