IMO first thing needed is better storage . I never like an office in a bedroom . The space has no style so some idea of that would be great. I think the spce is too large and makes it difficult to work with . Since it seems you need an office why not make an actual office in that space with a wall and a door . I assume you are the female of the couple so post some oics of rooms you like so we get a feel for your sryle Post those pics either her ein comments or in idea books DO NOT start another post on thiissue or we will lose you . My advice right now would be remove everything except the bed and the wardrobe , The draw a to scale floor plan on graph paper of the whole space show every window, doorway where those lead every measurement clearly marked posted here in jpeg format in a comment . Do you own or rent this space? Assuming it's a rental, here are some simple things you can do:

Bedroom:

--Remove the round table with computer from bedroom area.

--Remove the small chair on the left side of the bed and whatever the clutter is on the right.

--Remove vanity but keep the mirror. (See below)

--Put the tall dresser shown in living area in the corner where round table is now.

--Put both oriental rugs in living room area. If you want something soft when you get up, get a light, soft rug for by the bed.

--Run a sheer curtains across the space to divide bedroom from living room/office area.

--Change your bedside lampshades to plain white drum shades.

--Check Amazon to see if you can find an ivory slipcover for your headboard, which is so dark.

--Keep your bedding at the end of the bed down to the floor so the bed looks tidy and inviting.

--Put a nice big wicker basket in the bedroom area for holding pillows.

--If you're not attached to that dark art work over the bed, look for a light art work that evokes the sky or the outdoors--as if you're looking out a window-- about 2/3s of the headboard size.

Living room/office area:

--Run a shelf desk entirely across the window wall the depth of that niche. You can have one cut to fit at big box stores. Paint it white. Put a tall table lamp at one end of the desk. Drop a modern, bright pendant over the desk as below.

--Remove all cluttery extra furniture, including vanity table., wall clock, stuff on walls. One or two big, bright pieces work better in a space that has to do double duty. You can put your mirror above desk to the side of the windows. Buy shallow storage dressers/cabinets 12" for under the wall desk. Ikea's Rask dressers should fit under the desk there.

--Install bamboo shades the color of your wood floors--or white--across both windows. Remove the dark curtains, which are depressing.

--If you are getting a sofa, then remove both armchairs entirely. Then float a comfy short sofa or wide love seat to face bedroom area. That way you can watch TV where it is currently mounted.

But first steps are what Patricia suggested. Take everything out or way off to the side and decide what stays or goes. Every piece that stays has to do double duty--wall desk and storage below replaces vanity and odd pieces you have now. Good luck!

You seem to have so many small unnecessary items in the room, I suggest you remove what you don't need and post other pictures.

I you can draw a simple floor plan showing dimensions of the room, doors and windows it would certainly help to give you valuable suggestions for a furniture layout. After that is done, we could go onto decor suggestions.
