Sheila, I didn't realize, at first, that the name would confuse people, but it was named for the man . . . who was a descendant of the House of Orange

It might have avoided confusion about the color if it had been named MISTER Orange Smith. But that boat has sailed, lol. It's very lovely rose, regardless.
