what color do I paint the walls?

last year

I picked this wallpaper for the mirror wall. I will paint the other walls. I want dramatic beautiful! I’m leaning towards dark blue, but people are telling me to do a version of taupe. If people here think taupe is the way to go, then I will. Vanity is hickory medium brown. Floors are tan. Shower and vanity top are white.

That pretty wallpaper will be covered up by the mirror. I would suggest wallpapering the wall with the window too.

    I like that idea. Thanks.

There are paint chips taped on both sides of paper. Any thoughts?

I would tend to go with the darkest blue on the right but hard to tell because I don't see the entire room and your pictures are not in focus.

I would go for the darker blue on the right, definitely the one for a dramatic look. Any in the beige family would be safe, but I don’t think safe will make the most of the paper. Oh, and would do the extra wall too…

Definitely blue and not tan. I would use the second blue color down on the strip. Colors always look more intense when painted on four walls, especially in a small space. The second blue color will look lovely w the wallpaper.

If you do the mirror wall and the window wall - how much wall is left to paint? I would wallpaper the entire room

It’s a small room. The white shower takes up the whole wall opposite the sink and mirror. The wall opposite the window is mostly door.

    Wallpaper the entire room

Agree with more wallpaper is better, but if you paint go blue (esp with the floor) I have had a ton of luck color matching at Ben Moore, you could see if they can match the blue background

I agree more wallpaper less painted walls and I would do a piant to match the background of the paper and please change that light fixture those bare bulbs will make you crazy. Just a nice simple bathbar type light is all you need . You have a lot going n in this tiny room so anything you do now needs to not compete with all the other stuff so the nice dsrk blue is good choic e . For nme the wood cabinet is too busy and if apinted the same as the taupe maybe and please one color for all the other stuff like taps etc the mirror IMO frameless and no brass anywhere with that black shower door.

I don’t have the “ clear glads shades” on light fixture in picture. I might paint vanity a taupe. It’s hickory wood and my understanding is that it doesn’t take paint well. So I’m afraid to do that. I appreciate all the input. This helps.

I think your plan to wallpaper the mirror wall and paint the other walls is fine. I agree that you should get a better match on the paint though than the two blues that I am seeing. I wouldn’t add in tope, because I think it’s going to just start to make it too busy. You could always add that in as towel colors.

I would not paint the vanity. It’s a neutral right now. At the end of your decorating this room and are still not satisfied with the vanity, consider paint, but only make this your last decision after you have done everything else.

Wallpaper the entire bathroom. I think you may find the vanity stain is off with the paper. Work around the vanity.

I recognize that pretty paper — I have this powder room saved on IG:

With different vanity and floor tile colors, I’d advise going lighter with paint … but in your case, I think a darker color is the way to go. But I think papering the whole room would look really fabulous.

It’s so lovely reflected in the mirror:

OMG! This is a wonderful pic! Thank you. My room is small but not that small. But this gives me a good idea if I do all wallpaper , or even go with dark blue paint on other walls.

Just wallpaper all the walls. The effect will be much better.

Do you think this wallcovering is the best choice for your room???

IMO the other colorway would be better with your existing selections.

Looks pretty in a small powder room but not crazy about entire full bath and not with that black shower door?

I honestly don’t mind a accent wall of wallpaper.

So I ended up playing it safe & I love it. Papered one wall, chose a sand color paint for other walls. Using a coral color as an accent. It’s my guest bathroom so the shower doesn’t get used much. My daughter had this brilliant idea to put a picture and some flowers in the shower. These can be loved when company stays over. Thank you all for your helpful comments.

Match the blue in the background of the paper…I dont think it will be dramatic more country..if you want dramatic you need a darker larger print wallpaper.
