Keri, I’d suggest placing the main sofa along the long east wall, facing the TV, which keeps the view of the fireplace open. Then, add a loveseat perpendicular to the sofa, near the sliding glass door. It’ll slightly overlap the unused part of the door but won’t block your main walkway.

For extra seating, keep the two armchairs but angle them slightly toward both the TV and fireplace to create a cozy flow. This layout keeps the fireplace visible, adds more seating, and avoids blocking the TBD window. You could adjust the window size/placement to fit this setup better if needed. I have a few questions. Is this an addition? Are the fireplace and patio door already there? Is there a floor above the room? Where does the patio door lead to? What is the new view out the proposed window?

nellibean - no, it’s not an addition. The fireplace and door are already there. There isn’t a floor above the room right now, but we will be adding one. The patio door leads out to a 18’ x 18’ screened in porch. The new view out of the proposed window will look out to a deck/hardscaping that will have a little garden area right next to the window - before extending out to the pool. You probably won’t see much of the pool - mostly just flowers and tree tops in the close distance. Thank you!!

Edited - I just saw your response and LOVE that idea if we had the budget to change the screen in porch layout but that might be more than we can bite off.

Thanks! Sorry, first time posting so I appreciate the tips. Hopefully this is a bit better...some of the measurements aren't perfect but should give you an idea.

We are a bit restricted on where we can relocate the wood stove so we're planning on making it a beautiful space with nice tile floor, nice brickwork, shelves built into it and it will be about 4.5' tall and allow for some decorative accents on top of it (some examples in the photos below). If we put it on the side where the windows will most likely go, I imagine it would significantly cut down on our views & sunlight coming into the room. Also the flow of traffic seems to restrict us from putting too much in the corner it's already in but, again, open to thoughts! Thank you!

You need to decide how much of what you need to see, and from where, and how many and the tv issue

Maybe the slider needs to be all window! the access to the porch in combo with the attempt to make a fire from a stove? will Kill your room.

The space needs a better exit, and it needs to be out of seating area and not hog all the space.

Put a bump at the porch so you can exit !

Get windows and put them above the couch back!

Male a clear view door to the porch, closer to kitchen! Add a window at the far left.

But you're trying to have everything, see everything which may get you not much for a lot of money.

Show the porch....... it's the thing that does darken the room.: : ) so a clear view door, another window on that side, may be well worth light and a better traffic pattern . Along with all window to replace the existing slider.

I think it depends also on budget, but JAN MOYER had some great ideas. I wanted to make one observation about your wood stove. I noticed that your inspiration pictures had the woodstove flat against the wall and not in a corner. It would look completely different in a corner instalation. You might want to find pictures of corner woodstoves to get a better idea of what you want.
