I like to lay it perpendicular to the joists just like real wood . I do suggest you get some solar shades for those windows that get a lt of sun some brands of LVP do not like direct sun better to be safe than sorry . I do not think the direction will have much effect on the visual size of the kitchen

Thank you. Direct on concrete floor as living area is basement. We have a retractable awning for patio which helps and will be getting cellular shades on the slider to match the living room window.

Make sure you do the prep work to make the slab flat and use the recommended moisture barrier or you will be replacing a mess in short order.

I would prob do back to front - having the planks flow with you as you enter the door makes sense to me as that is often how hardwood is done

I do agree the floor needs to be done properly in abasement . We have old school LVP so we did ricore then the planks the floor is 18 yrs old still looks awesome even wit 3 huge dogs.,
