Support with decorating my daughter's room

Hi there,
I hope this message finds you well! I'm reaching out to ask for your help in choosing the right curtain color for my daughter's room, which has a lovely greyish-blue wall. I've attached a photo for reference. Your advice on which color would complement the room best would be greatly appreciated. If you have any additional decorating tips, I would love to hear those as well!
Thank you so much for your help!
Best regards, P

May we have a picture of the room from the window side of the room?

  • last year

Thank you so much for your feedback. I've attached more photos that closer to the window.

I also looked at the attached curtain, but I'm uncertain about what colour headboard will relate to her room

I am so sorry. I meant to say; please take a picture of the room with your back to the windows so we can see the entrance and the rest of the room. Is your girl a teenager or a little one? Does she have a dresser? Looks like there is one on the wall at the foot of her bed? The pink curtains look good. Can you get someone to cover the headboard with the same curtain fabric so it will match?

Hi there I like your ideas . My daughter is 7 years old . It seems like decorating her space is a bit more complicated than it was for my son, whose room was a breeze to set up! We recently extended her room so the plan is to decorate her space for a long time

I would love to hear any suggestions or tips you might have that could help us create a fun and functional space for her.

    Best regards

Oh yes, we can have so much fun making this a fun room for her! Please tell me the measurements of the room, especially the width of the area with the window. A hand drawn sketch will work just fine. I look forward to hearing from you. We just finished a remodel for our Granddaughters. It was fun!

May I have the measurements of the room, please ?

I hope you had a wonderful weekend. The wall where the curtain will hang is 3 meters wide with a drop of 2.5metres. Then the wall on the 2.20metres. The total floor space is 2.85 meters by 3 meters for that area as illustrated in the attached.

Can the desk, clothes, clothes rack, small dresser and black chair go into your son's room? That will open up the area near the window for your little girl's things.

    In these pictures you see:

    • One small child's chair next to the bedside table so she can have a light to sit and read by.
    • Two small baskets for toys, etc.
    • One small toy organizer.
    • One small doll house
    • Her small desk under the window for natural light and a small desk lamp on the desk
    • One round rug.
    • Some children's wall art.

Here the wardrobe has been moved into the nook to make more room for easier access to the bedroom from the bedroom door. It also makes it easier to access the wardrobe and dresser. This will make a difference even as she grows older. I understand that it will take some work to move it. You will have to remove the drawers and so on to do so but it will be worth it if you do.

    • One wall mirror hung at a level that makes it easy for her to use.
    • Two sets of wall hooks hung lower so she can reach them.

    • A mirror was added to the wall next to the door to reflect natural light during the day and ambient light in the evening.
    • Two bedside tables were added with table lamps.
    • Large art over the head of the bed.

Here is the rendition with suggestions for your consideration. Thank you for your patience. Hope this helps. Best Wishes to you and your family. MAE

If possible; move the bed closer to the wall with the door ( as long as it does not block the door). You will need to keep at least .50 meters between the bed and the wall to make it easier to make the bed and possibly have a small bedside table with a lamp on it between the bed and the wall. This will make room for the other bedside table and the small child's chair.

    Hello Mae

! I just wanted to take a moment to express how impressed I am with the layout you provided. It’s truly spectacular, and it’s clear that a lot of mindful thinking went into the planning. My daughter is going to absolutely love it!

This weekend, I plan to hang up the pink curtains, and after seeing your 3D photos, I’ve decided to cover the headboard with the same curtain fabric. It really shouts out a big wow! By the way, I’m all the way in South Africa, and it’s been wonderful working with you. I look forward to sending you more updates soon!

    Warm regards,

    Praneetha

It was so much fun! Thank you for getting back to me. It makes my heart happy to know that you like it and that it helped in some way. I am on the pacific coast of North America. I did think that you were somewhere like that because of the time difference. We are a day plus 10 hours away.

Hello Praneetha, nice to hear from you. It is hard to see the wall, the whole wall in this picture. What is your budget? It looks like there’s a combination of fake stone and brick. But again it is hard to see. Please post a picture of the whole wall. Best wishes, MAE

    Hello Mae

Thank you so much for your prompt response! I truly appreciate your assistance. I have a handyman in our area who can help with the project.

Attached is a fuller picture of the wall, and I wanted to share that I really like the Buddha and Thailand theme adding a picture of the entire room. Looking forward to your thoughts!

The picture on the wall is both lovely and beautiful. Can you buy some more of the red brick?

  • last year

    Hi there!

Thank you so much for your lovely compliment! I'm excited to hear your thoughts on the red brick color. What do you suggest? Yes I can easily get them.

By the way, I thought you were in the States; if so, it must be pretty early there! Hope you have a great start to your day!

    Best, Praneetha

Hi, A soft blush pink or crisp white would complement the greyish-blue walls beautifully, adding warmth or a clean, airy feel. If you want a bolder look, try mustard yellow or deep teal for contrast. Sheer curtains can enhance natural light, while heavier fabrics add coziness. Adding matching throw pillows or a rug in the curtain color can tie the room together perfectly. Let me know if you’d like more ideas.

My husband is a Mason, bricklayer. We are going to try to put something together for you. We noticed that you have the white fake brick at the base. Please tell us what that is covering.

Hello Yes i am here and I really appreciate your kindness and the help you’re offering—thank you so much! That’s very generous of you and your husband.

Regarding the white fake brick at the base, I believe it’s covering very old bricks.

I’m happy to continue our conversation on email as well.

I always look forward to hearing your ideas!

Do you prefer the red brick? 🧱

  • last year

Great question! The color of the brick has two aspects—my husband initially chose the brick-colored ones, and later, I went for the cream-colored bricks below. To ensure everything looks cohesive and avoids any concerns, I would prefer to go with the brown-colored brick.

Good to know. I will look for an email from you. Is the cream colored brick section 5 feet/1.524 meters high? Please email me the answer. Thank you so much. 😊

    ITS A 90/45 metres

Are there brown bricks behind the cream bricks?

Aww, that’s sweet! Nope, different BRICKS behind that area below.

Are they the same as the red ones above? This is important to know. Also, did you put this woodburning stove in recently or have you been using it for awhile? Why? Because we are concerned about how close the pipe is to the wall around it. Do not want it to catch the wall on fire.

  • last year

IHello. No, it's not the same. The one underneath is much older. The wood-burning setup has been in use in that spot for a few y ears, professionally upgraded over time

    NO

I wanted to touch base regarding the type of brick underneath the cream-colored tile. Unfortunately, I can't seem to recall what it was.lol If I manage to find a picture from when it was previously installed, I’ll be sure to share it here.

    Thanks for your patience. Praneetha
