Where would you be hanging this light if not over furniture? Could you provide a photo of the space for the ceiling light location?

I too need some info where this is going. I honestly do not like such a short space below a hanging light .

The ceiling light would be in my tiny L-shaped kitchen. It's so tiny that it's hard to capture a good pic from any angle. The kitchen will be updated with white cabinets and white counters, gray tiles. I'm going to wait for kitchen to be done before getting a ceiling fixture, but couldn't help but add things to my wish list. I will post an updated Pic when kitchen is done

No pendants. Install 4” cans instead 25” from exterior walls. A pendant in the middle of the room visually lowers the ceiling and it’s always behind you casting a shadow when you’re at the counter

It should work. But there are lots of factors that help decide if a fixture is right for a location.

That kitchen looks familiar have you been on here before ? IMO a nice LED tarck light where the heads are adjustable to light all the areas would be much better than acenter light and there are many that are onlt 6-8 " from the ceiling. I agree since youa re redoing the space pot lights might be the answer but in such a tiny space I hope not so much eye clutter either .
