Is that the only wall where you can have the TV? Please take a picture of the entire room, show all 4 walls, and if you can also post a floor plan with all dimensions and showing doors, windows, etc. that would be great to give you some advice and/or comments.

Here is how to post a Design Dilemma to get the best results. You need to show the whole space—all four sides of an entire space—even if it’s about one specific Dilemma. Commenters need to see doorways, windows, closets, finishes throughtout the space to make informed suggestions.

Keep in mind that you're inviting some design pros and people with a design eye into your home via photos. If they walked into your actual space, they would take in all of it: all four sides, doorways, floors, windows, ceiling, built-in fixtures, lighting, trim--the "givens"--then the features that can be changed--furnishings, paint, art, rugs, decor items, etc. It's all one first impression. Same thing with photos. That's why it's important to provide well lit photos of the entire space, taken from all sides of a room regardless of the size of your problem.

Yes only wall for the tv. I just moved - hence the cardboard boxes as an end table, the sectional (white) is on back order

Will the TV fit on this hallway wall (with the thermostat and light switches)? Then I'd swap the living room and dining room furniture and put the couches at right angles against the wall.

Your floors and wall color are beautiful! Until the sectional arrives and you can finalize a plan, I would leave the couch on the door wall, as close to the door as possible and put the other sofa facing it, with the lamp and end table next to this couch.

Draw out the dimensions on a piece of paper and post it. If you have graph paper, even better.

If you switch the dining room and living room you have two choices for the TV-the hallway wall with the thermostat or the wall to the left of the hallway. You could also put it in front of the window that is left of your what I assume is the front door and put the TV on top of the stand instead of on the wall. If you do not need 2 sofa's you may want to get rid of one.

Are you positive you want a sectional? They are very large and therefore become extremely limiting for furniture arrangement options. This room seems pretty small to me. And I see little-kid stuff taking up room. (Of course it does! I was a mother once. I get it.)

Another point - you said “this is the only wall where the tv can be hung.” Who says it has to be hung? Also, the existing credenza that your tv is hung above is big and imposing.

In short, I think your biggest concern is SPACE. You don’t have much. Buy small apartment-size furnishings that fit.

From your pictures I'm trying to reconstruct a floor plan to see what furniture layout would be possible.

Obviously the plan is not to scale but it would help if you can fill in the dimensions as well as where the photo with the hallway fits in. And is there a front door entrance somewhere on this plan?

Thank you! This is an accurate layout by the way impressed you were able to figure it out! I didn’t even think of the corner as an option. Too bad I just asked my dad (single mom here) to hang the tv and he made a hold to run the wires through the wall 🤦‍♀️

Thank you everyone for your suggestions and creative minds! The other room is not really a possibility (I don’t think) the lighting fixture for the dining area is there.

Also the bamboo blinds idea is something I started thinking about, my mom has them and I love them. It would just be a lot of brown right?

Don't worry about the sectional, unless you bought a huge oversize one. They can work really nicely in a smaller space because there are fewer arms taking up space.

@Kristin Green: Do you have the dimensions of the sectional you ordered, we can look at how it fits on the floor plan.

If you decide the TV on an angle in the corner works best, the hole in the wall can be fixed or maybe covered by art depending on where it is. So, maybe keep your tv placement options open until the sectional arrives.

The bins with the white strip in the tv console accentuate the console being off center, so remove them. Shove the console all the way to the corner. Get a a bigger decoration on the left of the TV. Move sofas/sectional as suggested.

If this is "accurate" , can you please add feet and inches to the walls and windows? Measure, write them in. and upload as a jpeg
