Hi I am looking for a rug to go in my family room. It currently has light gray carpet so the rug will go on top of that. I hope to eventually replace the carpet with hard wood. There is one that I am considering but I think it may be too busy. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated. I also want to replace the mirror on the mantle. Thank you so much! Chandra

This is the room.

I am considering this rug from Room and Board. It acctually looks a little darker in person. The colors are a perfect match, but I am worried that it is too busy.

Since all your furniture is solid, I don't think the rug you selected is too busy. You might also consider a rug that brings in an accent color. For your mantel, simple asymmetrical decor would work since there's not a lot of height above the mantel.

OK none of these is your rug, but they are similar in color,, wool, handmade. Maybe they can demonstrate how a patterned rug could look in your room.

As an aside, I'm wondering if the white brick wall is right for the room.

That rug you are considering looks amazing! It’s got a nice pattern but still jives with your calm interior! Perfectly adds the right amount of interest! Not to bold or loud.
