Are you looking for affirmation? You have a beam down the middle of the island. You had two choices…recessed lights, or as you did, semi flush fixtures. A dangling pendant would’ve hung too close to the island.

What I don’t like with your choice of fixture, is the exposed light through the clear glass. It’s glaring to the eyes.

BTW, where did you see a hard fast rule, that only pendants are acceptable above an island? Plenty of people put recessed lights over their island(s). Following a trend truly dates a kitchen. You do what fits your situation.

Just a crappy phone taking picture... no glare. Just bright light over working island with dimmer if needed. No room for recessed. Never seen this done before... rare. TY. Works for us.

Puck lights or pancake lights are used in that scenario all the time.

You'll see flush or semi-flush light fixtures used in some period homes.

Personally, I don't like the look of them in a kitchen.

Can lights would look MUCH better than those fixtures.
