Storage shed replacing detached garage--help!

I have a detached garage that is in terrible condition and I plan to have it demolished and removed. I need some kind of outdoor storage and would like to get a shed. The more I look into it, the more complicated it seems to be. I'm looking for recommendations on material (vinyl? wood? metal), brands and methods of assembly and installation.

I am budget conscious, will need to hire somebody to assemble and install, and I'm looking for something durable that will last a long time. It doesn't need to be beautiful, fancy, or have a lot of bells and whistles. I probably need something in the neighborhood of 10x10. It can go where the garage is now, and there's a concrete floor that isn't beautiful but is basically level.

I'd be happy to buy something from Lowes or Home Depot and have it installed, but I'm a little overwhelemed by the options and the things to consider.

Look for a used one that is not too old in your area. Facebook Marketplace is great, type in "SHED" and see what pops up. Here's one in my area that's a steal, for example. If smaller, you can get a flatbed wrecker to haul it, or if larger one of the shed haulers that can position it accurately..

I would recommend that you reconsider the size of the shed. You are moving the items in the garage to a building that is about 25% of the size. (assume1 car garage.)

With a 10X10' shed you will be crowded if you have a lawn tractor which needs about 4X6' floor space (a lawn mower about half that). You probably have a string trimmer, shovels etc. Add to that a storage shelf system, etc. I like to have a small work bench to do minor equipment repair and gardening choirs. Once you have everything you want in the shed, you have to have room to move around inside.

As for shed information, I would recommend 7' side walls and a barn style roof. With lofts the barn style roof maximize the storage area. I would also recommend a loft in each end vs a floored attic, As there are less restriction on the size of items you can put into the loft. I would not consider a plastic shed, as it can not be repaired easily.

The 7' side walls will give you plenty of head room and allow space for ceiling lights. The 7' walls will allow taller storage shelves on the wall.

One other thing. Before you make up your mind on what size and type of shed you want, check with the county building department, as it may require a building permit. One of the criteria that influenced my decision was the fact that I did not need a permit to build 10X12" Temporary shed with no utilities. (Temporary: it is landscaped in but is on skids. It is permanent for all purposes )

I think you can buy a combination of a large carport and a tool room, the front can be used as a garage and the tool room can be used for your daily storage work, this product is not available on the market at the moment because it is something we are developing, if you have some ideas, maybe we can exchange them!
