last modified: 11 months ago

Show us your T daylilies today. I have looked at all of the posts but havent added many comments. I’ve been busy with a new additon, 9 week old Maggie. Here she is with her recently 1yo brother Charlie.

On to the blooms.

Tall Dark Stranger is an unusual shade. Great increase and good budcount, tall enough to meet the standards posted here…..great plant.

Topguns Butterball is new to the garden.

Thibodaux Tantalizer is also new to the garden

Toger Swirl

Through Dark Waters has a 6 inch bloom here.…..shows some teeth at times.

Trance had two seasons in the garden, has done reasoanably well.

Two Sues is doing well after a few years of my abuse. I moved it too many times.

Tyger River had a good past season but was living in increasing shade. It got moved…..hope it likes the new placement.

Maggie and Charlie are so cute. Thanks for sharing their photos.

Now concerning the daylilies, I like Tall Dark Stranger (love that color combination) and Thomas Tew.

    Here are my T's.

Take a Ribbing is just a small diploid, but I like the color and it blooms late so it's a welcomed sight in the garden.

Tangerine Angel is a really nice smallish tetraploid. It is registered with a 4.5 inch flower, but I don't think it's ever been that big in our garden.

I fear Tart with a Heart will never be a good grower in our garden--too southern.

Tasmanian Tiger grows fine, but something about it does not appeal to me. It's on the 'to go' list.

Tech Colors took forever to get going here but I have decided it is not a keeper.

The jury's still out on how I feel about Terrorsaur. It hasn't been very vigorous for us. Perhaps it needs another location. The fact is we have a half sib to it that has been color and edge and is at least as good of a grower.

The Blessing of Freedom has more recurve than we like. I am not sure it is a keeper.

The Dentist is registered as mid-late but blooms late for us.

I had hope to breed with Titanic, but so far, we haven't gotten any seed from it.

It's not super easy to see in this photo, but To the Ritz in a Rickshaw is a reverse bitone. We are interested in reverse bitones and have starting breeding for that trait.

    More to come . . .

Tom Adams is tender but as long as we have a greenhouse, we will keep it. I love this flower. It blooms twice for us--one time in the greenhouse and then usually in August.

Tramps Like Us was slow to get established but is doing well now.

TrueNorth Queen Bee was bred in Canada. I love the flat face.

Twisted Peppermint was new last season and spent the summer in a pot. I can't wait to see it this year.

Sherry, I forgot to mention Two Sues. I really like it and always enjoy seeing it.

    Nancy,
The Blessing of Freedom is very pretty but I too don't like recurve very much.

I really like To the Ritz in a Rickshaw as I like reverse bitones too. And yes I can see it.

    Sherry, the babies are adorable!

Two Sues looks happy in maybe the final spot. Tall Dark Stranger is always a prolific bloomer

Brad, Sun King appears to be a very clear yellow.

Nancy, I can see why Tom Adams is a keeper. I like Tangerine Angel.

Tahoe Snow Blizzard is a sprawler

Kate: What a great shot of True Gertrude Demerest. I can see why you like it. Thundering Voice looks interesting. I'll have to look it up....Brad & Kate: My very least favorite daylilies are the off white with eyes. The exception being Thomas Tew. Have always liked that one.....Nan: Never say I'm an anti-dentite. I like The Dentist. (Can't believe I just typed that) ...Sherry: Who doesn't love a puppy?!. Being cat lovers when we got our puppy many years ago, we were shocked at how different they were from kittens. An unattended puppy can make a snack out of anything!! Tall Dark Stranger is a looker in your garden ..........Maryl

Maryl, I too don't like most off whites with eyes. I've had some and got rid of them.

Kate, I always enjoy seeing Tahiti Sweetie!! Love it! Great trio of Thomas Tew! Thundering Voice is a great color.

    The Ultimate Sacrifice

Thunder Glow X (Skin of My Teeth X Midnight Castle)

Tart With a Heart - I loved it, but didn't bring it with me because I thought it would be too tender.

Debra, I like both your seedling Thunder Glow X (Skin of My Teeth X Midnight Castle) [love the color, design and edging] and The Ultimate Sacrifice. Beautiful color of red with nice white edging!

My favorites so far on this thread are Two Sues, Tune the Harp, and The Blessing of Freedom. Nan, if you don't keep The Blessing of Freedom, keep me in mind as a buyer.

    Debra

The Color of Wonderful should go in this category, but I posted it earlier under the C's.

I'd never seen Tuscawilla Blackout before. It may be an older one but it is a beauty with that dark velvet color.... Tigrillo Afternoon interests me. The pictures on the database show a blending of other colors along with its base color of pink. I'll be following yours this season as it heats up............Maryl

David, I really like The Beast and Tiger Fish.

I see that Tiger Fish is out of Bass Gibson. Through Dark Waters out of Bela Lugosi.

Tickle Fingers. This Davisson is not that tall, but quite attractive both in color and cascading form.

Tigrillo Afternoon. Nice blend of colors; later blooming.

Tattered Heart. Tall plant; large flowers.

The Food Channel did well this past season.

Toucan Sam did better in 2023. Was divided.

Tahiti Sweetie was better budded in 2023 than in this 2024 pic.

Teeth of Iron. Difficult to capture the dark color of this Emmerich. Not fast growing. Taller than picture suggests.

Tactical Deception --a smoky color that I find appealing.

The Dream Society. While it didn't perform as well in heat and drought, this later bloomer did show its deep color. A Hanson out of Moldovan lines. Moderate increaser.

Tao of Physics. Out of Worlds Collide.

The X Files. Performed very well in 2024 (Hanson).

    Twitch (This Davisson looks promising.)

Another Thomas Tew. Good height, though bud count is typical of older Stamiles.

Truth Teller. This Emmerich did well despite the heat and its dark color.

    Another Two Sues

Not pictured is The Goldilocks Effect, which got disturbed in painting the neighbor's fence.

Tropical Fusion. Vivid, but not ideal branching.

Tonight's the Night benefited from tree trimming and looked good. Hanson

Mantis - Teeth of Iron is striking. It reminds me a lot of Skin of My Teeth. I like the colors on The Dream Society and Tonight's the Night. Those two look a lot alike. The X-Files looks good. I should add that one since the TV show was one of my favorites of all time. Tickle Fingers, Tattered Heart and Tahiti Sweetie all make beautiful clumps.

Teeth of Iron has been difficult to capture--more of a blackish purple. It is almost always free of blemishes. I can see that one could find Dream and Tonight to be similar from the pics, but they are quite different. Dream Society is a deep color with a flatter bloom. Tonight is a rich, almost glowing color, with a somewhat smaller flower (and of course ruffled and recurved).

Nan, what is your evaluation of The Dentist after many years? In the past, you have given it high praise, then a period of no mention. I notice in the pic that it is blooming a bit low.

T Bone Walker. A nice color; though somewhat plain bloom, the pinched petals provide interest.

Tar and Feather. This Kaskel evergreen is a large-flowered, early-blooming plant that has reliably produced (we hope this year will not be different) those welcome June blooms. Dramatic with its deep blackish eye.

Tahitian Waterfall is a luscious color (rose peach). I think that this was from 2023. The 2024 pic color was a bit off (and not as floriferous since it was divided).

The King is Coming is not a fast grower, but color is interesting. Not a tall plant.

Tina's Siren Song. Good height on this Hanson. This picture doesn't capture how shimmering its color can be.

Mantis, Tahitian Waterfall is indeed a wonderful color! A real beauty. I also love The King Is Coming. The eye is beautiful and love the shape.

Tar and Feather (not my favorite combo although I have several with this combo of colors) is impressive in that clump. Like Brad, I like Tahitian Waterfall. You captured a wonderful shot of Tahiti Sweetie. Twitch does look promising.

Mantis - I didn't see your photo of Twitch earlier. I'm interested in that one since I have it coming this Spring. The Tar and Feather clump is a stunner, and I'm glad to see some evergreens do well in the north.

Twitch is still too young a plant to fully evaluate, but I have liked what I have seen. It seems that last year a number of cultivars with the base yellow or gold with deep-mahogany eye did well last year. Philistine Champion displayed, as did Punxsutawney Phil. Both large-flowered cultivars. I do like that color combo, but not the Fooled Me combo.

29 Flags Over Conway. Nice colors on this dip, but bud count has not overwhelmed.
