Yes, blooming and healty.

No new canes from soil line though. And compared to other roses planted at the same time like Vanessa Bell, which is a vigorus monster that established in like year 2...., new canes from Soil Line from VB.

I'd be tempted to say wait. It may just not be as vigorous a type as VB is,and if it's blooming a lot and healthy...

Yes, Grafted. And no, mine hasn't gone that wide in framework....as one would like.

I know I removed one pretty down low to redirect some energy, hoping it would send a new stem from soil or at least a new strong stem up, but NADA.........

Some roses like to be left alone. I don't really prune my B.

Of its a rose you love , treat yourself to another but dont get rid of this one! have you tried alfalfa tea?

I'm normally not a fan on pinks but I do love the coral of this one...if not it's bloom. Just wish it would either get bigger, wider or send out 1 new strong stem. I probably wouldn't even have posted this if I just got 1 new stem.

Have done at least 3 full alfala pellet feeds, and everytime I was doing the lawn, I always mixed extra and gave it some humic/fulvic foliar feeds as well.

Boscobel is one of my favorite Austin’s and I just received two of them which btw are own root directly from David Austin in Texas. I had multiple grafted ones before and they never grew big like Diane’s in my acidic clay. I would just add another and not remove this one.

I didnt even consider the fact they could be own root (I prefer own root). so if you have a strong preference make sure you check what they have available before you order.

I was actually contemplating that as the season was winding down last year - own root. And of course, I didn't and just looked at the website....missed the window and next crop will be a Fall 2025 crop.

What do you mean by “missed the window” they have boscobel available right now and their ”bare roots are own root” Are they done shipping to your zone?

I may be wrong, but the 2qt potted in Own Root and the Bare Roots are all grafted .

a1an Sorry That’s what I was trying to explain. I did not order 2 Qt own root. I just ordered them last month bare roots that were just delivered to my house (bare roots currently soaking in a bucket and they are own roots NOT grafted).

all their bareroots are not grafted and indeed all mine are own root right now in the spring shipping. So you should be able to get your plants right now as own root bare roots. I would still call and verify availability before ordering.

You are right. I presumed everything was all grafted since they removed the *search filter*. In the past, there was a filter/catagory where one could select bare root:own root and was a very small list that had it

That option is not there on the site current so I presumed everything was grafted currently.

A call to DA confirmed it is own root:bare root and to find the info on which ones is.....one would need to call as that *filter-listing detailing is not on the current website.

I got a grafted Boscobel last year and it seems very vigorous. It was well branched to begin with and gave me a new basal pretty soon. Sometimes you just get a dud. I got three Munstead Woods from DA around six years ago, one has always been rather small and wimpy - never given me a single new basal - but the other two are so much bigger, stronger and do produce basals. Hope you have better luck next time.

Wow, that's so interesting regarding the own roots from DA. I'd also assumed that all bare roots were grafted this year since they got rid of the filter for own roots. Dianela, I'm curious to learn if you can get a list of which ones are own root this year.
