for a softened look, I'd choose a drapery panel with texture, rather than color or pattern.

Just a personal choice.

I would hang a rod across the lowest trim board Extending beyond the trim so when open they show the window, and leave the top exposed.

A new rug with deeper tones and tan accents would enhance the room IMO.

If you don’t need privacy, I would leave that beautiful window just as it is.

You rarely see these window walls with drapes, because there really isn't a good spot for drapes without it looking somewhat odd.

I had a similar window wall in our second house and we had no window treatments. We were at the end of a cul-de-sac overlooking 30 acres of wet/boggy conservation land, so no privacy issues. Use landscape lighting outside, so you don't get the black hole effect when inside at night.

@chispa @njmomma Unfortunately we do need the privacy. Do you all think shades (roman or roller) would look better than curtains? I just prefer decorating with curtains because I think you can do more to dress up a space & add more color with them

The other option, because we are building, is we could get rid of the top 2 windows so that we could do curtains and they wouldn't look odd. I just don't know if that is worth getting rid of the top 2 windows - I love how they currently look stacked in the vaulted ceiling. But I do need to think about the finished result too

@Lyn Nielson is it okay to mount the curtain rod as you have shown to the window trim? I just measured, the trim is 6.5" thick

I am not a fan of attaching hardware to trim. Do what works for you.

First, your room is one of the loveliest rooms I've seen on Houzz in a very long time!

And you most certainly can attach hardware to trim, I've done it in that situation. I think it's more stable than going into sheetrock.

Don't let anyone talk you out of curtains--lots of people on these boards are very anti-curtain, so you're going to get a lot of naysayers. In your case I think that full sheers could look beautiful--they can diffuse the light without blocking it. But they aren't going to give you much privacy, so you may want to combine them with shades. I think that natural wood/grass/bamboo type shades would work very nicely with curtains. And work well with your style.

Jennifer, yes remove the top two windows. i alway find that these walls of windows are more for the impact of how they look n the outside.

I thought the house was still under construction.

Yeah, she has another post showing the house being built. It's a bit confusing; I was under the impression that the room in this post was hers.

And that shows why sticking to a single post is recommended.
