gray walls - help!

Hi everyone, I moved into an apartment with gray walls I can’t paint white, per the Landlord. My inspiration board on Pinterest, mostly highlights white walls, which gives it a bright and airy feeling. I also read somewhere that warm lights make gray walls look… more gray! I love warm lights!

I feel like gray walls only work with modern clean aesthetics, I wanted mine to be playful like you see on my Pinterest (the last photo).

If I decorated like that, will it still give off the same vibe or is there any type of wood or couch colors that I should stick to keep the room bright and not gray … it’s a very gloomy state, and it would be sad for me to see gray on my walls and in the sky 24/7.

It's unfortunate that you can't paint. I don't like gray walls either. However, gray can be a good backdrop for color. Bring home fabric samples so you are sure any sofa and/or chairs you buy will look OK with the walls, but there's no reason not to go crazy with color the way you like. Orange, teal, purple, green and blue can all work with gray.

You're right, there are not a lot of images of Boho living rooms with gray walls. The two I found brought in warm earth tones like you mentioned.

^ agree, I think you can punch it up with some color - think about colorful rugs, throw pillows and larger vibrant pieces for the wall - FWIW I am always pushing the paper tapestries at Anthro - they are a total steal for the impact

I also thought of tapestries. We used to hang paisley fabric back in the day. Didn't realize we were Boho at the time lol.

You can apply peel and stick wallpaper that is either a color you can live with or select a paintable peel and stick wallpaper that can be painted over and removed when you leave.
