Of all the specialty items available for bathrooms the one often most disappointing is the rain shower head. Most people don't have the time or money to dawdle in the shower. The water pressure is often not great enough to rinse the soap from your hair. Without a handheld shower wand most people cannot rinse their complete body.

Yours with an S pipe is really awkward in appearance.

@BeverlyFLADeziner. I do have a separate handheld shower that I am planning to keep and will a faucet to switch in between. To mitigate water pressure and look I am thinking no more than 10" shower head, maybe just 8". Some sources state that I need at least 10" for rainshower experience.

Is the current shower head not working for you? Maybe the angle isn't right for the size of the shower? Have you looked at other options? One which lets you adjust the angle would probably be a better solution than a rain shower. Do you or anyone else who will use the shower ever want to shower without washing your hair?

If you have used one of these before in someone else's bathroom and love it, go ahead, just know they're not for everyone.

We did a rain shower in out tub/ shower combo with international students using every day not onece have we had an issue about rinsing hair they all like the shower . As for lighting I think I will wait until I see how this looks without that ugly sofitt. Any light you put in that shower needs to be rated for shower install for sure but really if you have glass doors and good lighting in the bathroom there is no need for a light in atiny shower IMO. I think that weird shape for the shower head might be an issue for low pressure water sounce and I do not understand the need . IMO rip that whole shower out do it right and stop trying to save afew bucks f and get a ereally poor design .We di dind we needed to add an extension out from the wall to really appreciate the shower .

What rainshower size did you install? I feel that I am a bit restricted given the size of my shower and 1/2" plumbing

Use 2 smaller 3" fixtures spaced like Bev's example shows to avoid the huge shadow. 500-800 lumens each and/or dimmer.

For your size shower you don't even need two lights. I only recommended it to be symmetrical. You certainly don't need 4.

Ours is 9" we have really good water pressure but make sure you get one that gives you good output. with your water pressure.

Looking at this, installing two lights might not really improve this. One other thought I had is to add two (smaller lights) not centered. Either closer to glass or by the wall.

Water + electricity always a dangerous combination. Make whatever you consider is to code. They were created for your safety.

This is not a "just" project. This is a much more involved than you are anticipating. That bulkhead is going to contain stuff.
