Living Room squished- layout advice

I really don’t know what layout to use for my living room. Everything seems squished and the flow is off. Help please? Open to getting rid of the faux fireplace, and any furniture for an updated, more flowing look!

1. I would either get rid of the fake fireplace or change it out for a linear electric one and install a larger screen TV
2. I'd consider installing a console table/shelf behind the sectional to push it into the room 12"
3. Select a larger patterned rug for the space
4. Select an arc floor lamp to illuminate the seating area.
5. Select a round wood coffee table for the room
6. Add accessories to the room
7. Replace the fixture over the dining table

How is something modern/minimalistic and yet gothic? Gothic is kind of overly detailed. Gothic is usually the architecture, and you're in a modern contemporary building.

Show me an example.

If you asked for Gothic, I'd head in this direction but there is nothing minimalist about Gothic & you wouldn't start with a sectional,.....too modern.

I suppose it is a bit of an oxymoron. I view it as less things but still with gothic shapes and colour palettes… kind of in this range

So I’ve played around with a layout change and am trying to figure out how to best situate furniture and get a moody/cozy vibe. Here’s the mock I’ve done up…

Ive made these mock changes and I’d love any feedback from the community!
1)Tv and fireplace on the opposite wall of where the tv currently is.
1. maybe a fitted cover on the couch in a different colour and texture?
2. Not sure if curtains could even go over the blinds I have now but some sort of window decor/curtain/fitting might make it more moody?
3. a gallery type wall with either pillar faux candles on shelves or some wall sconces
4. paint faux brick teal wall a black colour?
As for the dining space, I’m at a full loss there.

I’d love any and all feedback!

I love your use of the alcove for a fireplace and TV. The only thing I think you are missing to get a more goth feel is maybe some opulence like some gold accents or how about some goth wallpaper on the wall behind the sectional? It would make that whole area really moody.
