Sealing Pruning Cuts - Rose Crown

last year

I've come across canes over the season where I've observed cane borer has entered....

Too busy to be mindful of how it looked on the stems attached, but for the few canes I have *observed* a cane borer has entered, I do recall it did not look as healthy uptop compare to other stems with no cane borer damage

I got some late winter cleanup underway yesterday, blowing out the beds of the the typical winter litter, etc...got some rose pruning as well. And I noticed one older wood with cane borer damage, with the top growth not too great. So it triggered the impulse and I ended up grabbing some wood glue and sealing all the pruning ends.

This is where I think I *messed* up and I need advice. I cut one larger stem flush to the mulch line. Let's say it was a good 3 Inch Square Patch of Wood a smidge under the mulch line.

The original pant is planted probably about 4-5 inches below the much line roughly.

I sealed this wood that was flush on the soil line.

In retrospect, I think I messed up.

I need to remove the glue off the rose crown right
