A nice warm week here so as mentioned I worked on the spinach rows...

Here's 2 rows that came up and survived winter a-ok. These have now been thinned, weeded, ferted, and mulched with compost...basically these are wide rows with 2 skinny rows of spinach each.

This pic below are 2 more rows of fall planted spinach, the row on the left was spotty on germination so I just re-seeded that row. As time goes on I'll compare these two on production. In the past the fall planted rows have a big head start and are picked earlier (mid March). Both planting typically bolt at the same time in late May as temps get hot.

Lastly, defunct autumn collards below, will be composting them soon...

I found about 10 starter sprouts under the Japanese Plum tree that I pulled and potted up. Hubby does not care too much for the plums but I like them, especially when the plums are in the sun awhile makes them sweet! Figured I could share the plants with others who like them.

Does inside gardening count? I've got leeks coming up under lights and just planted some asters, small dahlias for my front door planters, more columbine for my daughter's yard and Phyllis marigolds for a neighbor because her name is Phyllis, LOL. I think I'm going to start some chamomile for tea too.

I'll start peppers in a couple of weeks and a few weeks after that I'll start tomatoes, eggplant, lettuces, cabbages/brussels sprouts/broccoli/cauliflower. The rest of the garden will have to wait until mid-May, at least.

I may be able to start some spinach and mizuna and some lettuces in the hoop houses next month too, if the ground thaws enough. Today it's 17F, so definitely not thawing right now!
