French door with doggie door

last year

Hey everyone, I need some help figuring out dog door options for my new home.

At my old house, we had a storm door with a doggie door, leaving the main door open for easy access. Now, I’m moving to a home with French doors and exploring options. I’ve seen exterior doors with built-in dog doors and even French doors where the non-moving panel has one.

I’d prefer modifying one side of the French door for better security since a storm door lock isn’t that strong and maybe it would help with energy efficiency, but I’m unsure if i should do thr active or passive side. The home improvement store offers prehung and slab options, and I’d have the builder’s contractors install it.

What’s the best option, and how can I ensure the new door will work with my current setup?

i know my French Doors are 36 inches wide by 80 inches tall.
