It's mostly kitchen scraps here through the winter. I have cold compost cages. I have heard some folks get coffee grounds from coffee shops or used mash if there is brewing in the area. If you got a feed shop that carries alalfa hay for a resonable price, I've heard of that being used.

Coffee grounds, fruit & veggie peelings, eggshells work great!

We don't produce a lot of kitchen scraps most of the time, just two of us, but we do have company right now and we are eating eggs, and only a small amount of coffee grinds. But...you're right....kitchen scraps. I'd suspended collecting them and I'll have to start up again.

No, not going to head down to the starbucks for coffee grinds. [g] It's a great idea, I just am not in a position to take advantage of it. No feed stores near by either. Alfalfa hay? I think there is one about 45m away and I should call and ask.

Livestock dung is always fun. We have a horse stables nearby. I bring a 5-gal bucket and several kitchen trash bags.

Thanks dchall....I did do that years ago, but I'm in an area where you have to go pretty far to get it and the drive home with all that in the car....lol And it's just more than we can think of doing right now. But it's a great idea for someone who can.
