It's mostly kitchen scraps here through the winter. I have cold compost cages. I have heard some folks get coffee grounds from coffee shops or used mash if there is brewing in the area. If you got a feed shop that carries alalfa hay for a resonable price, I've heard of that being used.

Coffee grounds, fruit & veggie peelings, eggshells work great!

Thank you both for those ideas. We don't produce a lot of kitchen scraps most of the time, just two of us, but we do have company right now and we are eating eggs, and only a small amount of coffee grinds. But...you're right....kitchen scraps. I'd suspended collecting them and I'll have to start up again.

No, not going to head down to the starbucks for coffee grinds. [g] It's a great idea, I just am not in a position to take advantage of it. No feed stores near by either. Alfalfa hay? I think there is one about 45m away and I should call and ask.
