Condo Kitchen Remodel - help with awkward corner

We are remodeling the condo kitchen, eliminating the eat in space that was in the kitchen as there is a dining area and counter top seating on the peninsula/island. The area is 13x13, sink, stove and DW do not get moved, the fridge can move left or right.

The dilemma is that there is a window (removing is not an option) in the old seating area that is 5" from the wall and 17 1/2 " from the floor, that prevents cabinets/counters from going all the way across. Other folks have just left about a 2-3 ft gap there and set a chair or a plant there (looks random to me).

All the cabinet design folks I have gotten quotes from are giving me a storage bench there, but not really a fan of that.

Just wondering if someone has a solution we have not thought of?

you could skooch fridge to the right..or toward bedroom closet wall on your sketch...build a partition wall and have a pantry with the small window. Not certain how much storage is in your new plan... with the peninsula and a semi open kitchen , a pantry allows some reduction in wall cabinetry if you desire a less bulky aesthetic on the walls .... Details of how much/ what kind of storage/ type of use for the condo etc arent known

is there a functional use.....pantry / laundry/ computer counter ?? to give rationale to close it off?? window is one thing but SPACE is valuable....

Is that the only window in the kitchen? Could you post some pics of that area it is an odd place for a window and what is the reason for the angled wall? Are redoing the flooring ? Too much missing info to get real help . We need every meausrement and for sure all in thta problem area.

You can simply ignore the window. Build a temporary wall, over it and continue the cabinets around the corner.

I love herbflavor’s idea. Put a pantry there. It could be a walk in, as herb suggests. Or, it could be cabinets placed in front of the window.

My friend had a similar issue and simply screwed a piece of plywood over the window and painted it. It is removable in case the next owner wants the window back. He put a store bought pantry tall cabinet in front of the covered window.

How about a nice chopping block on whells you use for a bsr cart or whatever it can evne have a nice vase with flowers when not in use I would not cover the window

I also would not cover a window - I would get rid of things before I did that. I’d leave it - natural light and open space is never bad imo

I’m with Patricia although would love to see a photo of the space in question. A bar cart, a small rolling island/storage place. It’d be helpful to have another flat surface for putting groceries on as you load/unload the fridge, etc.
