Why doesn't the space have room for panels?

I would NOT take down the panels but would continue them in the balance of the room.

You could do a mock Roman shade on all the windows or a mix of both.

I don't like the short floating poles, so I would do one all the way across the large window.

I didn’t post the other photo apparently, oops. The other two windows are on either side of a fireplace so no room for panels. I do like the mix of panels and Roman shades though. The windows are really short so I was thinking something hung above them and then hanging over the tops would hopefully make them look taller.

So you don't have anything that actually give you privacy or sun control? You also have huge black holes sucking all the light from the room once the sun goes down. Take down the fake panels. Hang traverse rods a few INCHES not feet above the wood trim and buy some nice curtains.

We do have cellular shades installed.

Hey There: I am not sure whether you have inside mount bottom-up top-down shades already installed but if not, this would be a great option. Minimalistic and very functional.
