Is gray a color you love, or are you painting gray because you think it's "in". If its the latter, you're wrong they're out, grey can be cold and depressing. Don't do it because you think everyone else is. But, if YOU love gray and it ties in with the rest of what you've got going, then go for it.

"I’m looking to paint my new kitchen cabinets a light gray."

Why are you painting new kitchen cabinets? Is this a new-to-you house, or actually new cabinets that you had installed?
