Old single pane window.

We are cleaning and restoring this old window. Does anyone know where I can get the storm window that fits in this groove. Or what it would be called?

Doesnt sound appealing to me, to have a big piece of plexi or plastic there. I would definitely go for an outside storm window, that stays on year around. Blocks cold in winter, and has a screen so window can be opened on a nice day.

You can get storm windows at the big box stores (lowes, home depot, etc) and most lumber yards. They may have to order them.

I believe storm windows are mounted on the outside of the window. I don’t know what that slot is for.

That was probably just a removable glass panel that was left in place seasonally and removed for the warmer weather. I doubt you will ever be able to buy them nowadays. If you need them I would McGyver a piece of glass with a metal surround in place.

I would forget about the groove and put a storm on the outside, that has a screen, so you can get air in if you want to too.

Thank you for the responses. More research showed the plastic piece is part of an interior window kit. Using 6mm plastic for cold weather.

OK than, 6 mm acrylic instead of glass, other than that same set up as I mentioned by bringing in MacGyver.
