We are building new, and I keep surprising myself by being drawn to the brushed gold/brass faucets. Such as Kohler’s vibrant brushed moderne brass. In the kitchen our island will be a walnut stain, and perimeter cabinets will be SW Morning at Sea. Taj Mahal countertops. Which sinks. House is in the Appalachian Mountains and a “modern rustic” vibe. My questions:

1. My biggest concern is if they will look dated in a few years. Going for classic and not trendy, but also want to love it. Hubby is also starting to squawk a bit about the gold. The kitchen opens into a keeping room which will be a bit more on the rustic side with a wood burning stove.

2. Anyone have practical experience - how about water spots, ease of cleaning, etc. I loved the idea of a living brass finish which would patina but was educated on how careful one needs to be in cleaning and we just aren’t that careful.

3. Would anyone warn us away from that finish and why?
