There's already going to be a lot of brown, so you don't need to use brown on the walls. I would keep it light, and look at the tile or countertop to find the right color. A warm white or off white would probably work too. In any case, you don't need to decide on a paint color until the end of the project, so don't worry about it for now. The answer may become obvious after everything is installed. You can always update your post when you're further along if you're still stuck.

The darker your color, the smaller it will make the room feel. I say go light. I would say Nice White by SW or Agreeable Grey which is not grey, it’s a neutral tan.

You've got faux wood tile with a lot of stripey movement, a dramatic counter/backsplash with a lot of movement/drama plus high contrast black hardware and a copper vessel sink which also lends impact/drama.

I would not put that 12x24 varigated brown/gray tile in your photo collage as the shower surround-way too many competing and busy drama points in this small room already. Since the vanity is white, go with a white tub/shower area along with the white toilet. That'll leave just the vessel sink/counter/splash as your primary star of the space. A bathmat will cover some of the busy floor too. Have you had a vessel sink prior? Ergonomics of using it, splashing and cleaning can be problematic vs an undermount sink, but perhaps this is a guest bath in the lake house so it'll be rarely used. Use the plain black rimmed mirror to match your hardware and not the textured wood mirror. Editing and restraint will help a space remain pleasing over time.

I would also go light. IMO, the stone tiles in the shower are too much brown/ too much pattern in a small space and with the patterns of the floor and vanity countertop. Over the top busy. Need light color and calm.

I would choose a solid cream/white tile for the shower that compliments the pretty vanity top. This would let you use more shower curtain options in your theme. Decide paint last and perhaps can do the whole space in same color (ceiling and walls).

IfI understand correctly, the only things you have purchased definitely are the white vanity, copper sink, and black hardware.... I think all your selections are very nice, but I think the granite and the shower wall tile are fighting too hard with each other. You know the expression- you can have only one star in a room- well neither one is letting the other shine.

My suggestion is that one of those needs to go, and be replaced with a much plainer, ( maybe lighter) option.

I am not a pro by any means, so this is just my take on it.

Now look at some bathrooms that use almost all dark materials. Is this the look you want? I wouldn't, but if you use the materials you posted, this will be the effect you get.

Way too much different choices all crammed into a tiny space is never a good idea. I actaully am not sure what modern rustic is but those all together do not work. I like one 12 x24 porcelain tile for both bathroom floors and shower walls in a nice neutral and for me no patteren. Then that counter can be the star The white with the other choices IMO does not work. The tile for the shower wall you show and that top no way in the same space . I like the top but not on a white vanity . Choose a color from the top for a no patteren stacked tile layout for both the floor and shower walls then paint the cabinet a nice soft cream and the counter and the copper sink are all the busy the space can handle

Thank you all for your time and input! We have another bathroom (at a different house) that’s all whites and lights so I was trying to make this work with more color given its lost in the woods in NH 😊. In some lights the shower tile looks like the same as the granite top, I added a new photo of it here.. so I thought it would bring the two together, is that a bad idea?! I guess it depends on the lighting…
If I do decide it’s too busy for my liking once I actually see the shower tile in person, would you agree this white top would tone it down a bit? It was my second choice but it felt it was too white with the white vanity.
And just fyi, I actually don’t mind a lot of the darker bathrooms above, the entire house is dark with walnut wall panels throughout…. 🤔

You are designing a look from 1990 - 2000 and something you would have seen during the "brown trend" in a faux Tuscan house. Is that really the look you want?

If this is the look you're going for, I wouldn't do any more browns or tans. Here is a project we did that could help you. I would stick with black fixtures/hardware and more creams/off white: Small Modern Bathroom

That white marble is not going to tone anything down. If you're set on a dark look, then use ONE of your choices--either the flooring, the granite top or the shower tile. Then add the other surfaces in plain or subtle patterns in a color that works with whatever you selected for the focal point piece. Personally I think stark white is not going to go well.

Nothing is playing well together. .......If you want a tomb, at least limit the selections to harmony.

Add a lot of electricity..........

Use the tile on the walls and floor.

Storage is usually an issue in lake houses. Use this device on the back of the bathroom door.

The tile and the granite are both “stars”. A small bathroom can only have one. Use a plain tile with that vanity top, or a plain vanity top with that tile. Either way will give you a really nice bathroom in a “rustic” home.

There is nothing wrong with wanting a small, moody, woodsy bathroom with an overload of pattern, even if it looks 30 years old. If you want an impractical and outdated sink because you love it, that is your choice. If you like it, that is what counts. BUT, it takes some skill to pull off and you haven't put together the right pieces.

White vanity makes no sense to me here. Wood would blend in better.

Beverly is on to something with her wall color. Your floor makes sense. The vanity stone and shower tile just look terrible together. You have to remedy that somehow. Try to find another shower tile that doesn't fight the vanity stone so much.

Can you pick a wood that can be used on the floor and walls? Then use your current vanity stone and get a wood vanity?

I think I'd lean into neutrals and greens for a house in the woods.
