Curb appeal enhancements- help!

last month

Hi guys, I don’t even know where to begin, so this is where I’m starting!!

I recently had my carport enclosed into a garage, and I love it, but I also feel like the house lost so much dimension? I can’t figure out paint, shutters, etc to help liven up the home and make it welcoming. Especially with the low roof line. I think it looks so drab right now. Please any ideas help, I am open!!

No shutters since the window are the wrong style and size for them. I would keep the siding light due to the long low roofline. Paint the garage the same color as the siding to make it less prominent. Also paint the downspouts the same as siding to help them ”disappear.” Looks like you need some landscaping. One last suggestion, replace the front door with one more suited to your house.

The current color isn’t bad. Would a gray/green appeal to you? It can look really nice with a soft white trim but lots of options. No worries…it’s a nice house with tons of potential!

ETA - Sherwin Wms Oyster Bay is one option for a gray/green. It can read pretty light on the exterior. Pretty with blue door and white trim.

    Landscaping is required.

Paint your garage door the color of your siding, and it will add some dimension to your house. Have a landscape firm come and draw up a design for new landscaping, which is badly needed. If you cant have all that landscaping done for you, you will at least have a plan, to do so much each year.

It's drab because it's winter. Your house needs landscaping, not at the house but farther away. I suggest that you hire a landscape architect that can provide a plan that incorporates your willingness and ability to care for plants.

Hardscape! A wide, gently curved walk from the driveway to the front door will break up all the horizontal lines and draw attention to the house and away from the garage.

Your house is nice, it won't need much to freshen it up.

No house looks its best this time of year, but it looks like the driveway needs to be sealed at the very least. It might help to define the edges with bricks or pavers and deegw's suggestion to replace the sidewalk to the front door is good. While I normally wouldn't advise cutting down a large tree, the one visible in your picture is awfully close to the house and is blocking the front door. If the shade in summer is valuable to you then I guess it should stay, but for the best appearance of the front of your house you should remove it and engage a landscaper and add foundation plantings.

Powerwash your roof for starters since so much of it is visible.

Agree with others that you need to spiff up the driveway by edging it and coating the driveway.

If you have it in the budget, you could extend the driveway to form a patio style walkway leading to your front door--a friendly and inviting idea. If the tree is staying, then create a wide planting bed below it for perennial shade plants.

Waht style do you like ? IMO it has some MCM feel so I would play that up with thise type of landscaping and for sure a new and colorful front door not Victorian ever on that house . The garage door could have really driven the style but we need info from you as to what style you were hoping for .I would start by doing a nice walkway from the driveway to the front door to at least look like someone lives there .No shutters So this would be my choice for the house look
