Hoping to get some guidance here! My building maintenance informed me that my bathtub drain is leaking into the unit below. I had a plumber check it out, but he wasn’t able to clearly explain the issue. Instead, he made it sound overly complicated, insisted it required two people to fix, and tried upselling me, so I’m looking for a second opinion and possibly a new contractor.

I’d like to have the right parts ready before hiring someone. I searched online for bathtub drain kits, but none seem to match the shape of what I see in the photos. Does anyone know the specific name or type of drain kit I should be looking for? Do I need a whole kit, fitting, or pipe? (Based on your thoughts per the image).

Also, is this typically a two-person job? I know they’ll need to access the unit below for most of the work, but is there also work required in my unit at the same time? Trying to understand if the "two-person" requirement is legit or just an excuse to o

vercharge me.
