We adopted this bgv last spring from someone moving into a retirement home. It's still in the same pot. We did tip it out add more soil to the bottom and sides when it came home (it was down to about 25% of the pot). We live in Bermuda and it gets 8+ hours of sun sith very little wind. It leans to one side of the pot so last week I added a shepherds crook support (not pictured).

It has gorgeous bracts all over but very few leaves. A few new branches did come out and I see lots more tiny buds but I’ve been told it‘s in distress.

From what I’ve read since, three mistakes we‘ve made were 1. not breaking up the roots 2. adding a prepackaged potting mix without enough grit and 3. using an all purpose fertilizer monthly.

I saw an article that mentioned using a ’gritty mix’ for potted plants and switching to 9-3-6 fertilizer. Any advice to improve health would be greatly appreciated
