To be brutally honest, if you don't live somewhere you can plant your Gardenia outside I'd just ditch it. They are not easy to grow as houseplants and are generally considered to be short lived indoor decoration. I agree with Flora, they are NOT easy, I have one outside now in my outside shower in the shade, covered with flowers. Love them though. I try to over it in my garage, but gets too cold for it and HATES MY HOT WINTER HOUSE!

Thanks to all for the info. I figure I have nothing to loose by trying to nurse this critter back to health. Have dumped some coffee grounds on it, and will cut off dead stuff. I will bring it inside in Sptember or so, well before frost date, and put it in a south facing window. We will see.
