Vinyl wallpaper instead of tile?

Bidding on a house. There is no backsplash currently. Having noticed the sophisticated vinyl wallpapers in some hotels we stayed in recently, I was thinking vinyl wallpaper might be a good alternative to tile for a backsplash. No grout to seal, more design flexibility, easily changed out. But will it stand up to greasy splatters from a range?

Plastic and heat are not compatible. So unless the range has a proper back guard, you are likely to end up with a sorched surface, or maybe a fire.

I've lived in two homes with vinyl wallpaper instead of tile. So easy to clean. When I wanted a change, I removed it and painted instead. So easy.

I am aware of the scorching & safety issues. I plan on switching the gas range for induction, which should help with heat control. I could get a stainless backguard or even just tile behind the range.

Good to hear vinyl wallpaper is a viable alternative to tile elsewhere in the kitchen. Saw some beautiful ones online.
