how should we finish under the deck?

last year

I know they make post wrappings and I’m not sure I want more white. Any suggestions? Should I just paint a gray color to match deck flooring or would that look bad?

Waht was the plan before the build of the deck? How big is taht space , why those huge footings ?

Match the deck. It won’t look bad.

    Match the upper deck.

    Update:

And paint the cabana the same colour as the house.

    Painting gray sounds great.

I don't see anyone who suggested gray. Mine just above is white like the railing and the border of the upper deck.

Thanks for the visual! I’m so undecided! I don’t even love the white I already have and regretting my choice of deck design. I feel like it makes the most sense to do white but with my pool/patio area being more gray tones I don’t know if it’s the best choice.

Here is a visual of what the attached patio/pool area looks like. Don’t mind the mess this was taken when we were swirching out old/new furniture.

Well... you have a white fence surrounding your yard. Perhaps take a picture of the house from further back, all we can see is the underside of the deck. Also a picture of what you upper deck looks like when standing on it. Then you might get other suggestions.

Consider painting the exterior door under the deck a color that coordinates with your patio furniture, umbrella or flower pots.

Are your house and shed siding different colors? Consider updating the shed siding and door colors to coordinate.

White appears to make the most sense to me. I think the posts look very thin and unstable. I’m sure they are not but to me the look is unbalanced. Will you use the space underneath for seating too?

You have the beginnings of an enviably pleasant outdoor space.A few tweaks may help.
White on lower deck portion will look very nice...the posts are probably structurally adequate ,but seem puny to the eye.
You may consider beefing them up with a bit of cladding.
Matching the shed to house color will also enhance the overall ambiance .
Previous advisors have touched upon many helpful hints.
    Good luck!

Thank you all! Yes, we plan to paint the house..someday! It is on our long list of things to do. We were thinking of the post wrappings under so maybe they wouldn’t look as thin. We will have some seating under the deck. My husbands long term goal is to do a built in grill along where the rock wall is but that is at the bottom of my list. 😂

I think you have all convinced me to go white. Here is a photo from further back

Also confirm white as the best choice now that I see the entire back of the house and surroundings.
