Help re window grille size

last year

Replacing all windows - double hung sash replacement. Going with larger lites. House currently has single pane windows and the grilles look to be ~ 5/8”. Contractor says we should go with 5/8”. Concerned if we are going fewer lites, the 5/8” will disappear. Using Lincoln windows.

Is it too loate to look for another brand? Most in the business will call them Leaky Lincolns for good reason. As far as grids, what are you with full SDL, grill bar inside and out and a spacer? I would use 7/8" on your home were it I.

Thanks to millworkman for the info. on Lincoln windows. We haven't used that brand before and am glad to hear an evaluation of them.

The reality is that from the street, you can't tell the difference between Grids Between Glass (i.e. GBG) and SDLs from about 10' away.
