Brick House Pink...anybody grow it?

From what little I have been able to find out about Brick House Pink, it may rival or surpass the Drift line of roses in many points. What do you know about this rose?

    It's me again, Moses!:)

    🌸 General Description

    • Type: Shrub / Landscape rose

    • Color: Rich pink with excellent color retention (doesn’t fade easily in sun)

    • Bloom Size: Medium, about 2–3 inches across

    • Fragrance: Mild to none

    • Bloom Form: Double blooms

    • Reblooming: Excellent repeat bloomer from spring through frost

    🌿 Plant Characteristics

    • Height: 2.5 to 3 feet tall

    • Spread: 2.5 to 3 feet wide

    • Growth Habit: Compact, bushy, mounded

    • Foliage: Glossy, medium to dark green

    • Thorns: Typical for shrub roses but not overly aggressive

    🌞 Growing Conditions

    • Hardiness Zones: USDA Zones 5–9

    • Sun: Full sun (at least 6 hours/day)

    • Soil: Well-drained, moderately fertile

    • Water Needs: Average; water regularly in hot, dry weather

    🛡️ Disease Resistance

This rose is bred specifically for resistance, particularly to common rose diseases:

    • Black Spot: Highly resistant. One of its strongest features.

    • Powdery Mildew: Very resistant under most conditions.

    • Rust: Good resistance, though like all roses, may show signs in poor air circulation.

    • Cercospora Leaf Spot: Minimal issues reported.

It’s often chosen by public gardens, parks, and commercial landscapes for its low-maintenance, high-impact performance.

    ✂️ Maintenance

    • Pruning: Light pruning in early spring to shape and remove dead wood.

    • Deadheading: Not strictly necessary, but it will encourage even more blooming.

    • Fertilization: Monthly rose fertilizer or a slow-release balanced formula helps maximize bloom performance.

    🐝 Pollinators & Wildlife

    • Attracts bees and butterflies due to the prolific blooms.

    • Not particularly attractive to deer or rabbits (moderate resistance).

    👍 Why People Like It

    • Excellent in mass plantings, borders, or as a low hedge.

    • Reliable flower factory with very little effort.

    • Keeps a neat and tidy shape without sprawling or growing leggy.

    • Holds up well in rain and sun without petal drop or fading.

    👎 Possible Drawbacks

    • Fragrance is mild to none, so not ideal if you're looking for scent.

    • Might not be unique in shape or petal count for collectors who prefer English-style blooms.

    • In extremely humid or poorly ventilated locations, some foliage spotting may occur (though rare).

I grow Brick House Red and it's a total powerhouse of nonstop blooms. It stays red without pinking out and never stops blooming on a compact bush. I've never seen Brick House Pink but sign me up if I do! It's not a cutting rose by any stretch, but it's quite a good front of the bed garden rose.

I grew this rose, got it from Lowes, and removed it a year later. It functions similar to Drift and Knock out, it was a stupid and lazy purchase to be honest. Any rose you grow, even Knockouts need feeding to look great, so why not grow something that will put on a show?

Health wise it’s ok. In Florida, with heavy rain, it is susceptible to a little black spot and canker.

Thanks all, for your input. I would like to try Brick House Pink, but cannot find an online seller of it. Any leads, please?

    Moses.

Good to hear from Knights gambit on this one. There are indeed a lot of hot pink shrubs out there but very few in the dark red range that stay dark red. Maybe that's why the Brick House Red is so nice. I may think twice on this one.

I don't know of any online sellers Moses - new to me.

Cynthia, not to go OT, but I can't recall if you ever grew AC Navy Lady, and if so what was your experience?

I tried searching for you, only place I could find it was FastGrowingTrees for $72 for a 3 gallon! I bought it from Lowes for $16 for 2 gallon. That price is ridiculous.

I'm sure Moses won't mind if we go OT! I mean to post (or resurrect) a thread on dark red roses since it has come up in other threads.

Yes, I love AC Navy Lady and it's one that stays dark red without a hint of pinking out. I think it's mostly available from High Country Roses. HMF has this rose at a small size so in my first plant, I put it in a "hell strip" planting between the sidewalk and street thinking it would stay below 3 feet. Not a chance. It kept putting out octopus canes and trying to trip people walking by.

Now I have it in the back of a bed near a fence if it decides it wants to climb. Once established it's essentially tip hardy for me and tends to have long floppy growth like a climber. It's a steady bloomer though not profuse, again like many climbers. I train it horizontally and the bloom frequency improves with age (like most roses).

Bottom line - I really like it and it was a priority replacement.
