Just sharing a photo

last year

A couple years ago I bought one of those waxed bulbs (from Trader Joe's). After it bloomed, I peeled off the wax and other coating, planted it in the garden, full sun. It is just now blooming, and I'm so happy with it.

@Davis Kathi Hi.... That amaryllis grew so big and out of control that I just had to dig it out and toss it. I was sorry to do it but knew it would get to be too much for me. California gardening.

I joined in 2004, mostly Kitchen Table, of course. How about you?

Yes, it does have side bulbs. When would I harvest those smaller ones to share with neighbors?

The best time to lift and divide them would typically be the dormant season, or winter. I've heard of people dividing their bulbs right after bloom though.

I think i joined late 1990's,maybe 98,99.I was still working back then so that's how i remember,because i retired in late 99.I'm also weeding thru all my plants and getting rid of some as i'm getting up there in years,will be 88 next month,but stillable to garden among other things.I was on kitchen table,calif gardening,cottage gardening,cacti & succulents and several others.I dropped out after Houzz took it over and things changed too much.But i do pop on now and again to see what's going on.Still miss it as the garden web.

@Davis Kathi You are a little older than I am, but good for you keeping moving.

I used to check in to Kitchen Table every day, but not now. Last time I posted something there, it turned into an unfriendly, ridiculous disagreement among a couple users, and it really disappointed me. So I haven't been back there since then.

PS And it wasn't even a controversial topic!!
